I forgot how much fun the Sidey is.

I bought a little Sidewinder for surface base scan missions. Its so cheap that i can afford the odd rebuy. Better than risking my Aspx. As i was buzzing around a planet i realised how great this little ship is. Its small, fast, manoeuvrable as a fly and just easy. The sound reminded me of my first days in the game. Its also care free flying. I think I'll keep the little thing. Maybe transfer it to my base system eventually.

I cant express how much I love flying the Sidey. FA off, PA Thrusters, the ship is a blast.

I love mining in it. Shoot, sample, scoop and/or move on. So much more fun than using those limpets!

Canyon running is fab

I just wish it had another Class 1 slot so you could seriously explore in it too

Or FD allowed people to install scanners in the utility mounts...

I love the Sidewinder. It's the VW Beetle of E: D. In fact, I'm inspired now to add one to my ship collection all A-rated, super pimped up with the engineers, and a kick-a** paintjob...

I did some PvP in a rail/stealth sidewinder once.

It was hilarious.
I don't think i hit my opponent once, or ever activated silent running before being blown to pieces.

It was great. :D

I often dig my old DBS out of funzies too. It reminds me of my early days more than a sidewinder, because i wasn't in the Sidey for very long. Lol

Funnily enough i use the Sidey as a shuttle to get other ships, and i often find myself saying "i forgot how tedious the sidey is" really dont like that ship.

The eagle on the other hand, always love going back to :D.

I am seriously contemplating opening a special event - The Stock Sidewinder Invitational
A little friendly, or not-quite-so-friendly PvP Event for brand-new Stock Sidewinders, as a ladder competition.
It is, after all, the surest test of Who Really Is the better pilot.

Make it as light as possible, add DD5 enhanced drives to it and its madness. Jumps almost 30LY too! Sheer and utter madness. :D

30ly?
Right I'm gonna take this little thing to some engineers. Its gonna be my little speedy canyon runner.

And with that glass roof it is practically a convertible.

So, some CG ago, those of us who participated were given a chrome eagle skin for our efforts. I use my chrome eagle, as lightweight as I can get it, and still feel something like safe in it for buzzing canyons:

One of these days I'll ship it out far enough to not die of space madness getting it to Palin to DD5 those Enhanced Thrusters and see just how fast I can really get it moving.

I use a silent shieldless sidey almost more than anything else in pvp. AP thrusters, reactive armor/hull reinforcements all engineered G5. For weapons I used one rapid fire cannon with the confuse gimble/turret mod and one rapid fire mine launcher with reberv cascade. It boosts to 550 and has around 700 hull.
It's a ton of fun and in the last week killed one FDL and sent several ships running, including a fed vett who called me a hacker and said he was reporting me to FD.

The Sidewinder is an absolute joy to fly. I've got a little Railwinder stored away as a surprise for the right person. Naturally, it won't be taking down Cutters on its own, but in a wing, yeah.

There's nothing better than just zipping around canyons or the nooks and crannies of Coriolis starports in one. FA-off all the time is the only way to fly it.

If you think the stock Sidey is fast and maneuverable, wait until you throw on the 2A enhanced drives and the best clean drive tuning you can get (I don't like DD, they run too hot - keep it nice and cool).

Pity I still can't hit anything with rails and have to stick to MCs instead.

I'm not so keen on the Sidey. But over the weekend Ii had too many materials that I didn't just want to throw away, so on a whim I engineered an Adder.

I'd forgotten just how good a ship the Adder is. It's agile and fast (especially now with G5 clean drives), decent range and the medium hardpoint gives it some teeth.
