I found interesting from E3 Demo/Trailer

Wow i did not see the elephant swimming or springbok pooping. Good eye! XD
It has been hinted that animals will age naturally, unlike in previous Zoo Tycoon games where they just sort of "age up" by suddenly appearing in their adult form after a certain amount of time has passed. It has been confirmed, however, in one of the livestreams that there is a baby stage and a juvenile stage (I forget what they called it). So, the hippos you see could very well be two young hippos at different ages.
1 + 4: different animals have different needs, some animals will have the need to swim and others less so, depending on the species.
2: that's perspective! The other juvenile is clearly further away
3: yup all animals poo and your zookeepers will come and SCOOP THE POOP!
5: as confirmed at the end of the E3 Gameplay Demo, animals will seek shelter from weather conditions they don't naturally enjoy. Chimpanzees will find shelter from rain, but for example Timber Wolves will be fine outside in the snow. Shelter can come in many different forms: frames, trees, bridges, buildings - it's in your hands really.

Thanks Bo, sounds good, really looking forward to figuring out the shelter mechanics. Also, I think we can take point 2 as a definitive disconfirmation of ontogeny. Good to have clarity on that point.
