CH joysticks dont yaw. the throttle has a mini joystick that i've used for yaw until i got my pedals.
IMHO, best control setup i've used in 25+ years of space sims

Sorry I know you don't want to hear this, but the TM Warthog is the best and the dogs. Again no yaw, but if you have pedals, you can't beat it.

I paid £278 delivered for my Warthog just before chrimbo. So not much outa the money you spoke about.

Good luck on the search

I have had extremely good luck with my X-55. My throttle is not as stiff as you are describing and the stick centers just fine. I did have a problem at first getting everything working correctly in windows 8.1 but Customer support squared me away. Have you tried giving them a call to sort you out? Maybe you just received a Lemon. I know there are X-55's out there like this. Anyway, if you can finally get it all sorted, I think you will fully love the X-55. I could not live without mine! I wish you luck in any regards rparker1866!!

I have a CH Products Pro Throttle USB, and its freaking amazing!
Seems that the throttle is out of stock in some online stores right now.

Now aiming for the CH Fighterstick USB and the CH Pro Pedals USB, soon as i get the funds :D :D

Note: the extremely expensive Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS also does not have yaw on the joystick.

Right now I am using the Thrustmaster T.16000M joystick, and it has yaw.

I just got the X55 and have been destroying with it. Zero problems.

I had some of the same problems. I picked up a x52 pro and I like it much better. I find the throttle has a much better feel to it.

If you need yaw, also consider a T16000M and Ch Pro Throttle. Check first for any reports of stiction with that stick though, as there have been some for the Warthog stick. Or get a CH stick and use the ministick for yaw, as mentioned above. Do you live in a humid environment?

Phew, guess I dodged a bullet then!

I picked up the CH Fighterstick + Pro Throttle and couldn't be happier. The stick has a tiny break-in period but after that its s-m-o-o-t-h. Plus, the CH software is incredible! I haven't needed to but if you want look at how many buttons there are and you can double that via assigning any one of them as a shift button. Macros? It does that! And as for yaw, the thumb stick is amazingly accurate.

I don't work for them... :p

That sucks! I know it's a pain, but you could try contacting customer support from wherever you got it. It was pretty common for the 1st Gens to be crappy, perhaps they'll exchange it for you. It's a great stick/throttle if you don't get a lemon. Mine worked like a dream out of the box (not trying to rub it in, just letting you know they don't all suck). I wouldn't tell them you lubed it up though... might void the warranty.

I love my X55. The thing is a beast. Never had any issues with it and its incredibly responsive. You clearly got a lemon and should have just RMAd the thing. The only negative I have about this HOTAS is that the software sucks. Other than that, its amazing.

I currently have a HOTAS Warthog and am looking to upgrade to a x55. I don't like using flight pedals. Slide to much on my cement floor and I can't get a permanent fix that will be unwanted.

I like the X55 throttle but had bad luck with the stick. the centering stuck often in one position when using the smallest spring size. I use my Cyborg 3d as a replacement but by a new stick in the new year.

Had my X55 since last May, been using it for ED, SC and a bit of Arma 3 since. No problems at all, though I don't use the MadCatz software at all.

Sorry to hear you've got a lemon, I can't play ED without mine. :(
