Horizons I gotta ask

So cruising around and thinking of these brave explorers finding new systems and navigating from one side of the galaxy to the other and back. I gotta know, where did the 10's of millions of already established Navigation Beacons come from?

There must be an official story behind them?

Are you talking about navigation beacons in systems outside the inhabited bubble? As far as I can recall, there aren't any once you're out in the uninhabited systems.

Edit: ninja'd

Your FSD navigates to the primary star in the system. If you have no discovery scanner, you then cannot actually find any planets (which is the purpose of the nav beacon).

No. You can jump to any star you know and is within range. Would've been better if Nav Beacons were required for safe transit, would make exploring more dangerous and meaningful. And planting nav beacons would be a thing.

Well everyone seems to be searching for Thargoids right now ... what if ...

the Thargoids disguised themselves as nav beacons ...

:p

*gasps* So that's why suddenly the Nav Beacons know EVERYTHING about the system they're in!

"We always thought the invasion would come from the outside. But they were already here. Waiting"
