I guess im finally over it :)

After a year or so of play i was digusted with the engineers to the point that i quit playing much at all. I was still doing the occaisional CG and trying to support my adopted player faction, maybe a couple of hours a week of playtime tops.
Then after one of the recent updates, the missions, specifically the combat missions became so unreliable that it was impossible to even support my adopted faction, with any hope of success at all.
I had decided to give it a break until the next update came out, the one that coincided with the ps4 rollout and while waiting, found that i didnt miss ED at all. I ended up never logging in to play again, though i did download the update.
I actually feel that frontier took the game from me one bit at a time, no pvp unless you want to do the engineers grind, the engineers completly unbalancing the game and the last straw, the buggy missions.
So i guess im over ED, and i enjoyed it. Towards the end i spent more time on the forums than playing the game and i guess the White Knights wont miss me (hi guys :) you know who you are) but its been fun over all.
Luck and prosperity to all, have a happy life :)

I fully support your decision to take a break until a further update. Play whatever brings joy to your life.

If you had a decent allotment of fun and are leaving on a good note without people asking for your salty stuff (well that was unintentionally rude >___> ), then you have won Elite.

If you love a thing, let it go. If it comes back, it loves you.

Engineers are here to stay. There's no going back.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
There's nothing wrong with taking a break from something until you regain your mojo.

The Engineers is certainly a controversial addition, it's true, and one that I myself am not exactly in love with. That said, I still adore Elite even though I, too, take breaks every so often to pursue other things. It's always there to scratch the 'Captain's itch'.

The Engineers really aren't that bad. Actually, Level 5 Dirty Drives and FSD are the shiznit.

Too bad you'll never know what you missed.

Oh i did have some engineers mods, weapons, FSD and thrusters. I beleive i was working another thruster upgrade when i got disgusted and wiped my save, after that i started fresh, sans engineers, that was last winter iirc. If you can stand the grind, you are welcome to it and have fun. ED in its current form is just not my particular cup of tea.

But surely the objection here isn't that G5 Dirty Drives aren't great, but getting access to them is an annoying grind. FSD, not nearly much of course.

One of the nice things about Engineers is that once you've done it a bit you never have to do it again (unless you want to). It only affects freeform PvP though, for organised PvP you could find (or start) a group that doesn't use engineered modules. Then the issue is one of trust rather than the game itself. Got a bunch of buddies you can trust?

Bought a bobble-head in spite of not really playing the game at all. Have done most things in the game I wanted to do. Maybe next year there be plenty of new stuff to discover. And then I'll be ready - with my bobblehead :D

I'm with you on the whole RNGineers thing. It's a laughably pitiful attempt at a half-<censored> 'crafting' system. If I wanted to gamble, I could have bought a poker simulator instead. You aren't really 'engineering' anything, you're visiting a casino and hoping to hit the jackpot.

I meant that the grind isn't that bad and getting what you want doesn't seem to take a whole lot of rolls.

The grind doesn't bother me. The fact that there is so little content in the galaxy, bothers me though.

Actually, I'm looking forward to SC 3.0 coming in August.

Good to take a break now and then.

If / when you come back, flying spaceships is still a lot of fun, and ED is probably the only place most of us get to do it. ;)

It always fascinating to see how many people feel the need to let someone else know that their particular grievance is of no consequence to them in particular. As if somehow it invalidates the original complaint.

It's especially fascinating that there's nary a trace of that actual content in this thread. OP is not even complaining; they're basically saying "so long and thanks for all the fish".

We've all drifted away from games we used to love playing, in the end it's definitely healthier to acknowledge it and move on to something else than to keep at something we no longer enjoy. Good luck with whatever you do :)

Had a two months break myself! Came back cause targoid sites etc... never found any, but the game has got me again! It will welcome you back when u do!

Did you read the title of this subforum? Dangerous Discussion. To expect people not to discuss and counterpoint the OP's grievances is illogical.
