I Had To Pay To Grind, Tonight.

Tonight, my personal AFMU ran out. I was forced to perform one of the most hated tasks in my life, nearly as low as laundry, right down with mining rares for G5 upgrades.

I had hoped to get away from the task by periodically stopping at places with repairs, outfitting, refueling, etc (McDonalds). But, you cannot argue with the fuel totalizer (look it up, non-pilots).

No toilet paper left.

I had to go to the grocery store. :(

ARRRRRRRGH! The Grind! Worst of all, the packing, and unpacking, after paying out real money. :( Kind of like the "legs" everyone is clamoring for. Load and offload your own cargo.

NO HANDHOLDING! NO EASY MODE!

No DC for docking, either. Very dangerous docking bay. NPC's steal your pad all the time, and T-9's (18 wheel semi-trucks) going for the deliveries run you right over.

Fortunately, I am Allied with the store faction, and got a 15% discount. Also, did not get scanned entering or leaving, but got scanned for cargo before launch.

Strangely, my $100.00 USD bought product that had been tested, was wanted, and was not on a promissory delivery basis.

It was *not* delivered a year late, after payment, with broken packaging, did not have functionality, and a promise to fill in the empty soup cans over the next year.

I got my full product, right when I paid for it, and it was immediately usable.

I think there is something wrong with this model. Maybe they should use Frontier's funding model. Their PR department is better, too. :)

I think Ralph's allegory is expressing frustration at FD's attempt to further monetize the game by a series of methods not at play when the game was introduced, as well as statements made regarding the game that have been unmet, delayed or not delivered.

He has a valid point.

Just think if IT/software were held to local retail standards. A shipment of spoiled milk/eggs can get a store owner arrested, and his business license revoked.

Not to mention what will happen to the distributor/vendor, dairy, Big Ag, the farmers....

See: United States Uniform Commercial Code. Particularly the section concerning "fraud".

My fellow Southron "gets it". :)

Just trying to figure that one out. So games shouldn't be monetized and people should work and produce games for free?

The thing is Ive played free to play games that have been better than ED, yeah sure they had micro transcations if you wanted them. Im not saying games should be free and devs should work for nothing, they get paid, and we pay them for the prouduct they get paid to make, its when the two dont add up that people start having a problem.

Ive got my moneys worth out of ED and then some, even paid them more via the micro transactions tab aka the store. Not that I intend to part with anymore of my cash tho, the game is somwhat wanting in many parts so heres hopeing "beyond" will do what it says on the tin.

Agreed regarding the beyond series of updates. I haven't played any free to play games that have been better personally. But I suppose that is a very subjective area and all down to personal preference.

Sounds like Ralph is having some kind of breakdown though. Hope he is okay.

Lol, this reminds me that one (dubious) feature the SC alphas have over ED are actual "biowaste collection fixtures" in their ships already. Maybe they'll have "biowaste facilitation paper rolls" for sale in their touted station shops (which pops up details/pricing etc. in their arm "mobi"s) before the ponzi blows over.
