I Had To Pay To Grind, Tonight.

Agreed regarding the beyond series of updates. I haven't played any free to play games that have been better personally. But I suppose that is a very subjective area and all down to personal preference.

Sounds like Ralph is having some kind of breakdown though. Hope he is okay.

I've played several that I consider just as fun as Elite: Dangerous, including the one I'm playing right now. Literally, since part of the challenge is sending out what you hope is a balanced team and waiting for results. Set things up during breakfast, do a bit of maintenance, and then wait for results to come in while at work. My favorite of all time is still Fallout Shelter, though. That one's eaten up some of my Elite time on occasion.

The thing is that I agree, to a degree, with what I think Ralph is saying. I'm a lifetime extension pack holder, so I get everything anyways, but if I wasn't, and if Horizons hadn't lead with planetary landings, I probably would not have bought it for the initial $60. The Engineers? No. The Guardians? Tempting for the passengers, but I would've waited for a sale. The Commanders? No, worst update since Wings. The Return? No.

I think Frontier also agrees with Ralph, since they've said that they're going away from the Season model. I think they also feel that people haven't gotten their money's worth with Horizons, which is why Beyond is free with Horizons.

Is the OP talking about ED as in Elite Dangerous ... or another definition? ;)

What is the meaning of is, is? :)

We got scammed. Content is a year late, and will be another year before it's fixed.

Retail establishments would not survive that. Only software development/creative works can keep the addicts stringing along like this.

No more money, until we get finished content. I have paid $200+ in the store to support development. Don't tell me I haven't been patient enough. That won't fly anymore. Don't tell me it's because it's not the game I wanted. It's not the game a lot of people wanted, and it's unfinished.

Apologists, you will be placed on the ignore list. That's not a threat, it's that I will not waste my time on trying to convince persons who will not face up to legitimate, constructive criticism.

Nice try at being disingenuous. Not free. Just paid for finished product.

Just like a paycheck AFTER working the hours.

I know what you mean. Just having some fun. But to be fair, we did kinda know what was coming with horizons and I knew that some of it I probably would hardly touch (looking at you multicrew).

As they said, they have learnt their lessons from horizons, they are not doing that anymore. Any new content update that is paid for will hopefully be fully featured and we are not waiting for the rest of it to be released further down the line.

My gut instinct is that they will be selling planetary landing permits for different types of planets as these will be easily gated. Something like that at £10-20 a pop would be fine for me, and then they can continue to develop the core gameplay elements for free.

Personally I got my moneys worth on horizons with the first update 2.0. Everything else where a nice added bonus. But that is all personal preference.

Well written and a nice related.

Just curious though, is this in reaction to some new information or just an observation of your experience?

Of course, the inevitable grind of resetting the keybindings, video settings, etc, etc, took hours.

Could have used some Nyborg. :(

Now, the system is faster, and crisper than ever. The heat reduction is remarkable. The old system struggled to keep up with the GPU demands. The new card hardly heats at all.

The Galaxy map is actually almost *usable*, now. It's response times are incredibly faster than with the old system, and the detailing is much crisper. Plotting only takes about half the time, at most.

Frontier's art department is certainly going to drive the graphics requirements *up*. They assume everyone has unlimited budgets for buying equipment. :(

I shall enjoy the relative parity, until the next patch.
