I hate how the station menu moves up automatically sometimes when docking

Why do you do this to me? Please make this an option.

When you dock, and once you land, if you hit "Enter Hanger" it moves the cursor up to station services. Probably as an attempt to help the player out but it's just annoying for me. I have launched instead of opening services a few times now.

Stahp.

If only that were the case, I'd be happy. I always hit 'Enter Hanger' and then wait. Sometimes the selector moves up to the top menu item and sometimes it doesn't. I just want it to be consistent.

Not really a major problem though.

I actually agree with this.

I'm sometimes doing speed runs for community goals and such. I can land, press "return to hanger", conduct my business and be ready to launch before the pad has deposited my ship in it's "parking slot".
Whilst it only happens to me maybe 1 in 40(ish) times accidentally hitting launch can cause a lengthy delay in a bigger ship.

My Idea:
Make it so that you can only launch when the ship is ready on the landing pad or on its way up. This means no dock and instant launch since you have to press "return to hangar" then wait. Once there you can press "return to launchpad" which activates the "launch" button as a kind of double trigger security. You can press "launch" on your way back up but not before making it safer.

Yep, I've learned to wait a split second in there for the "will it jump up this time" effect. I haven't paid enough attention to it to see if it belongs to any specific set of parameters though.

It saves time to turn around is why plus you can be entering the Starport whilst it moves you around. It's quicker this way. So why does it do this? A leaked memory issue that may also be causing some stutters? If it should not do it then it needs addressing.

Isn't this a user issue rather than a menu one (bug)?

As far as I can tell, the currently selected menu option doesn't change randomly but from controller bounce. You move down in such a way that the controller resets with a kick back the other way.

I have never seen this when I am not moving the selection (ie it never does it unless hands are at the controls and it never happens when using a mouse on menus that allow mouse selection).

I have learnt to pause long enough not to launch before I am ready (most if the time) :)

The 'bounce' happens while using keyboard to choose 'enter hangar'. Thats the bug, you say?
At least for me thats what happens. Using keyboard.

I love how it's completely random depending on the station. Certain stations do it all the time, every time, others do not.
It used to not do this but I figure it was broken when they were repairing the horrid spelling and grammar errors found in the 1.3 release.

You would have thought it would be hard to do by accident on a keyboard.

Can anyone get it to happen everytime (at a particular station for example)?

A 'Cancel Launch' button would be nice...
This would fix the problem.

I think if you wait for your ship to finish it's landing routine, after it touches down and stops moving completely, if you hit "Enter Hanger" it will always move up to Services. Like Ravenov said, a cancel launch button would eliminate this frustration completely.
