I hate to be one of those "Where is the content" guys but...

I love this game. Plan to keep playing for years to come.

But... the content? Look... I can spend hours playing with just my imagination to build a world of story around myself. No problem.
However this is the fourth time I've been Lucied lucy-football_normal.jpeg by Galnet.

Once again Galnet has a news item and I jump right in expecting content. I get there and... nothing? In the past I've just flown away and went back to doing my own thing only to find people posting days later that the content finally showed up. So now I'm waiting. Can't play the game until the content shows up. If it shows up.

The stuff that seems like it would be more difficult to implement (like persistent NPCs, complex branching/chaining mission sequences, and a lot of other stuff) is taking a lot longer to appear than the devs probably thought it would do, back when they were churning out all those DDF mission statements.

Then again, all that stuff does sound kind of hard to implement correctly, especially on this scale, and a lot of forumites have just enough knowledge to realise this from a development perspective, so we aren't that surprised.

We are, however, still mostly big kids playing spaceman. As such, we still largely possess that immature impatience, and want all the shiny things RIGHT NOW. Hence this forum having some of the character of a cheese (wedge) and whine party.

The whole game is smoke and mirrors. It's quite funny that the ONLY way to interact with other pilots is to SHOOT them. Very immersive, living, breathing universe.

As to the content ? Well, they are to busy preparing to scam the XBone players so there you have it.

The way it should work is that the event happens first, then a few days later Galnet reports on it. That way any pilots who are working locally will get the benefit of the event first. Rather than post it, get an influx of pilots, then launch the event. The guys working those areas should see the benefit of their actions before anyone else does.

I never thought that GalNet was anything OTHER than background story telling. Does it refer to actual in-game events??? (serious question)

Yes and in fact, you may see more profit from the commodities that are quoted in the article.

However it is still early days in the BG sim development. Don't expect it to be perfect ;)

This. Well at least the xbone issue. Now i know why there havent been any communication from FD. They dont care! They're gonna bring the game over to xbone and ps4! Think of all the money they're gonna get! WHY CARE what people think about the game! WE GOTS THE MONEY!

Total nonsense.

Immature impatience? The only thing immature in this situation is Galnet. Posting a news article prematurely that appears to point to game content only to find... nothing.
Right now I'm pretty much stuck at this point in my game save waiting for the arrival of content that may or may not come. I don't mind waiting I just want to know that I'm not waiting for nothing.
If this stuff is so hard to implement... well, that's fine but they could have just NOT posted the news article on Galnet and I'd still be in Federation space enjoying the game instead of sitting on a pad in and Imperial system waiting.

Galnet is there to make it look like the universe is 'living and breathing', which it isn't ... it's just a veneer of text right now ...

1.2 is going to burn a lot of posts in this thread down to Chinatown.

(Except the OP. Galnet is like Teddy from Memento).

Why?
From the patch notes there's two new ships, grouping mechanism for players and npc's and lots of bug fixes (some of which are repeated with slightly different wording).

Can you link a post with details of all the new content please?

GalNet is like the boy that cried wolf - after the second or third wasted journey, it's not worth trusting again on the off chance it's telling you the truth.
