I have a problem. Can't board ship.

I am a bit stumped.

I am out in the black (not very far, literally just passed HIP 63835, Apexing back probably liveable) running an ASPX in very low power mode. Out and about in the rover doing xenobiology, when ranged too far from the ship and it autodismissed.

However, I forgot that with the vehicle hanger powered, the ship is over-power budget.

It launched and lost power immediately. (How did it launch?)

Luckily, I am on a very low-G moon, so hull damage is not squeeky-bum time yet. About 40-ish%

I tried moving far away from the ship so it disappeared from the instance and recalled. Literally, it appeared and did a fantastic impression of the Adama maneouver - dropping like a brick into the scenery from a kilometer up.

It tumbled for a few kilometers/minutes, and I am now stood in front of it on foot, having finally come to rest.

My question is this - how the frikkin' hell do I get back into it? Landing gear isn't deployed, so no boarding button. SRV can't get underneath it, so no boarding that way either. Ideally, I need to edit power priorities onboard, while not aboard. Thoughts? Anyone got out of this?

You could try the new recovery option in the launcher menu which should recover you to your ship in orbit.

Yeah - I had to use this in my SRV stuck down a crevasse yesterday. It is under help in the main menu (not the pause menu) - recovered me to sitting in my ship near the arrival point in the system (not in orbit of the planet, which surprised me).

Make sure you properly set the power priorities
A very low power build will require to have the SRV set on power priority 5 for example
So when you land and thrusters turn off, you have enough power to for the SRV hangar.

I'm aboard! Destroyed my SRV with rifle on foot. Logged out, relogged in a Horizons instance, relocated to "safe place".

For future reference, quit to menu then select Help and Info >> Stuck Recovery - it should put you back in the ship, in orbit

Also I think if you log out while on foot, the SRV automatically gets put back in the ship. Not positive though, might only happen in certain situations (or got changed with the latest update).

Well, yes, of course. Just didn't think the ship would launch without power. Heading back to bubble to engineer the power plant to cover. Will lose a LY or two, but already 61+, so no bother really.

"Sorry gents, it just won't start."
<sfx=scruffyoldcodger> Yup, looks like it's got to go back to the shop. Your transversal invertor isn't inverting, your windspring has snapped causing sidefumbling, your Dingle arm is ... limp, and your fan belt is unbuckled. Should have it ready for you in about a month. </sfx>

By the way, there's an easy way to see the distance from your ship when you start driving the SRV: Just target your own ship. The distance will then be shown on the lower left of your dashboard. Keep it under 2 km if you don't want the ship to be autodismissed.
