I have a question to developers related to the engeneers update.

Hallo dear FD developers.

My question is actauly related to many concerns of the other fellow pilots just like me.

In curent state of the game there is no possability to store modules or weapons ( exept from rebuy option ) in the game.

So basicly its not at big deal atm so long you dont have power related outfittings ( wich is pain to lose if you want to swap ships and outfit with power play modules ).

Acording to develompment of the engeneers update we will be able to modify/ engeneer modules in that build.

So my question is: are you reconsidering to add feauture in that build to store ( just like ships for example ) modules in hangar?

Its seems that after exactly this update it will be even worse to not able store your engenered weapons/modules if you planing to switch ships etc.

I beleave there is alot work arounds that can be made in that matter to give posability to players save they modules while they refit/change ships.

For example some kind of checkbox near module/weapon to prevent that item is desaper after you sell/unfit that one and swith your ship.... or simply bring new ship from near system wich was not avalible at curent station.

I really hope that developers reconsider such posability to store ( and maybe even store in ships later to able relocate ). Atleast minimaal we need to be able save those in personal hangars or something like that.

+1 Rep A very good point as the game develops more it will be something that needs serious consideration.

Actually a fair question.
+rep to the OP, even if I very much doubt we'll get an official answer to that.

if enough voices will be spoken....hopefully FD will hear and pay attention to it.

I'm 100% sure that i'm not only one who desire and badly need this feauture.

This topic has been discussed quite a bit. I completely agree we will need storage other than the existing "clumsy" system of buying multiple ships.

Would be nice to get an answer on this one, I'm quite curious myself. Keep hoping for it to pop up in a newsletter.

we will be fed just enough information prior to the beta to keep us interested and to shift new copies, but dont expect full open ahead of time disclosure that eve online does about its expansions.

The culture at frontier just doesnt make it happen that way, they put out a little info, build the hype with lots of PR and pretty pictures and fingers crossed the lack of content and depth will be ignored by the player base. That said the educating ed series is interesting and they do let slip some information ( thankgod for that) but the culture at frontier isnt one of open disclosure or going into fine details, its more of a play and discover it for youreself after u buy it type of appraoch

I am not sure, whether or not something like this will come. It would be convenient, that's for sure.

However, FD seems to favour the "various ships for special tasks each" idea. And I can imagine two reasons why:

1) There is too much money in the game anyway which is not needed any more if one ship is outfitted with all the player desires. The necessity to have multiple ships will grant the opportunity to spend this money.

2) Future features migth make it necessary to "bind" engineer-enhanced equipment to a certain ship. I am thinking of 'ship naming' here.
Naming your ships really is a simple programming task. The "danger" of inappropriate names was dicsussed at length and I still think it would be easy to overcome. Hence I believe, that there are other reasons not to implement this feature right now - just like passanger missions, where pasengers could have been a commodity like all the other at the beginning. But in reality, passengers come now and with a way more sophisticated system.
Regarding ship names, there are many interesting ideas in the DDF. There could be a ship legathy, a list of famous (or infamous) events, the ship took part. Maybe, FD wants to stick to these awesome ideas with ship names?

Now, how is this related to the idea of equipment-swapping? Well, ask yourself: What IS a ship? Is it merely the hull, which can be bought everywhere and by everybody? Is the "Hero of the Battle of Epsilon Prime" really just an exchangeable FDL, or is it 'the' FDL with this special enhanced railguns, the modified thrusters and the tweaked shields? What will be left, if you ripp all these equipment from this ship and stick it into your new Anaconda? Will it still be the "Hero"?

I don't say, this couldn't be done. SciFi is full of stories about pitiable ships, mere shadows of their previous glory. This could be fun roleplay, too!

However, I believe that we should at least consider the possibility of other future plans FD might have with ED before we judge the game due to the absence of an (admittely very desired) feature.

I give you one good example why is the system so flawed.

Let assume you own some factional equipment or in the future some realy good modified module/ weapon on your ship.

Now you about to accept the mission for your faction or just want to do something diferent for couple of days with your ship ( definitely with multi role ships).

You know exactly that your current fitting wil not far from ideal setup for that job.

That leave you with 3 options:

1 do it anyway... Knowing you will probably fail with that setup

2 change setup and say goodbye to your hard earned factional/ engendered module/weapon

3 buy new ship and outfit for that purpose.

Now my question is.... Which one of this 3 has logic in it?

Exactly.... None.

Same as there is no logic that we can store ships anywhere at station/outposts.... But not able to store modules..... Even if we ally with the station and working our ass Of for them doing missions.

The thing is... It will become even more annoying after the engineers update and I strongly beleave that devs could give us answere about if it planned or not..... And "why" if it not.

I've asked this question many times, so far the answer has NOT been YES.

If we do not get storage then all you can do is buy another ship, collect more loot for the modules you want upgrading for your new ship.
When you want a different setup then it's a case of buying a new ship again.

For me I would like a Multi-role conda, currently I swap modules for each task, which is not too costly, however, when conda modules cost 120million swapping modules would be very expensive.

Who want's to wave goodbye to a modified 120million module with a 25% enhancement so you can go exploring?

Lets hope we do get a store, currently though, no-one from FD has mentioned any way to store modules and weapons.

10000% this!!

selling powerplay weapons feels horrible, nobody wants to spend another 4 weeks to wait for the weapon.

ive got a dropship and gunship full of PHMR, and 2 more weeks till the APA.

Dear developers, we know that you read this forums and there is pretty much big chance you did read this topic as well.
Definitely because we speaking here about upcoming update wich will probably change a lot to all of us who playing your game.

It that too much to ask that you clarify to us what is your plans about such feature I have ( and others ) asked about?

It is expected that it will have huge impact after the update goes live and probably a lot of players will come later to forum to complain about it that there is no posability to have such option.

I don't ask exact details on it or whatever.... The simple ( we are looking at possibility to add that feature or not ) will be just enough.

And if it not..... We really would appreciate to explain to us mortals why you think it's a bad idea.

Tnx in advance.... Cmdr Cyberus

Thing is when you buy a new car in real life and you add heated seats module to it.. when you sell it do you remove the heated seats module? probably not. You just sell the car with that feature added. Although i guess you might remove the in car DVD player.

Noncence!

My father has so much spare parts ( including 3 engines) in his garage that he could build 3 cars from it.... If he got the chassis for all 3.

So you was saying?
