I have a Reverb G2. How do I control things ?

Like it says in the title. I can load the game in VR, I can get as far as my cockpit, and I'm happy with the graphics settings, so 99.7% of the posts about the G2 on this and every other forum are not what I'm looking for, and I haven't stumbled over the other 0.3% of the posts yet.

The problem is that once I'm in the cockpit I can't do anything except look around making menus appear and disappear. I get that the controllers don't work, but what does work ? Nothing I can do will make a mouse cursor appear in the cockpit, the only way I can interact with those popup menus at the moment is by feeling around on my keyboard for some arrow keys and moving the highlight to what I want and try to press enter not shift. Surely there is a way to do this that doesn't involve groping around on a keyboard I can't see ???

How do other G2 users do it ?

Cheers

Ok, how do I navigate around a menu screen with a joystick ? I'm not on that pc any more so can't just jump in and try it.

You would use a HAT switch on the stick to navigate the menu.
I use the X-56 and have used the HTC Vive. Only use the keyboard for typing.

I jumped back into the gaming rig and tried that and it's a truly horrible way to do things but it worked and OMG the game is truly spectacular in VR, thank you CMDR_UKmouse !

I do love the way that ED shows you that certain controls are assigned by default but they don't work until you assign them again manually. 6 million credits later I have paid for the damage to the space station, paid my fines at the detention facility, re-bought my Python, and just for a laugh bought a sidewinder too as that will be a lot cheaper to keep crashing. Now to try and figure out how many different places I have to assign the hat switch to get it all to work ! Any tips for the galaxy map ? I can swivel my POV around my current system but I can't see what to assign the hat switch to to move the cursor around the map (should I have tried the mouse ? LOL)

I use hat for move ud/lr in menus, a couple of buttons for tabbing/page left and right

Galaxy map:
Assuming a standard HOTAS, with twist stick
I simplify by not bothering to assign anything to pitch (tilt) axis.
I use twist stick to rotate
x/y - for translate x/y
rocker on the trottle - zoom in and out
Two nearby buttons - translate z

Set each of the four panels (external, internal, coms and roles) to ignore when focus (not auto open) instead have a shift button and hat switch combo to open. :)

Also, consider getting Voice Attack and making little macros for Jump, Request docking, galaxy map, system, landing gear, weapons etc.

Do a search for Aussidroid, I believe he has a X-52 binds file that should be very good, if his Thrustmaster scripts are anything to go by
