I have been thinking about something

I have the opposite problem. I have a PC, PS4, and an Xbox One because I like to play all kinds of games. But since I picked up the Rift and my butt kicker everything I play outside of Elite just doesn't feel as exciting. Some how I even find hauling cargo in Elite more enjoyable than almost all my other games. Something about the full immersivness of it all really has my attention at the moment.

have put a lot of effort into building a cockpit, have rift/kicker, pretty darn immersive. Yet, I find myself out of vr at times, playing elite even.

the main reason is some things are just a pain in vr, mainly 1. driving srv 2. galaxy map 3. looking up out of game info. 2 and 3 maybe I could fix/work around, but even with some vr friendly settings the srv just makes me sick.

Not wanting to sound like a know all (really), but as regards:

(1) driving the SRV, absolutely can say the sickness will go away if you push it a little. The trick for me was just to get in the SRV and treat it no different to driving off road - eyes front, tackle dips and go fast where you can. The only caveat, once you get dizzy take a break and come back when feeling better. Can then push a little harder and so on. My SRV session endurance quickly went from 5 minutes to 2 hours doing that.

(2) the galaxy map, all good using a game pad controller (except for typing in system searches) i.e. couldn't be happier.

(3) out of game info, can't help too much with that. Generally speaking, I don't use third party tools when in VR. When looking for something specific I do it before or after. That being said, I have been testing the Hello V app (mentioned in this VR sub-forum). It's in beta and for use with Oculus. Its reasonably easy to bring up a small web browser in the HMD which I can read and navigate without any problem. However, results will vary - it (intentionally) will not to open if your VR frame-rate drops below 80 fps and when in actual use (like clicking on the browser) it can steal focus, meaning you need to close it to return focus to the game, but it is easy to open and close. Anyway, give it a try. Easy install.

Because... you have been thinking about something!
Best topic ever, +1 for the lulz :D

Hehe, thanks.
I think its just a case of playing one type of genre too much. So now I am into some survivial games.
And I bet within a month or so the inspiration will return.

Its just that no matter how good the immersion is, I will eventually get bored. Thats highly individual though if you continue to play a game or not when bored
