Ships I have just bought a Anaconda BUT!

I have just bought a Anaconda mainly because I wanted a ship ready for the ship launch fighter update when it drops on Tuesday BUT I don't really like it. I have loved all my other ships instantly.

I hate the cockpit at the back of the ship (massive nose), it turns like a tanker (suppose it sort of is one) looks like one too, I just don't like how it flies with the cockpit location, I don't like the sound of the engines.

I do
love the load out options, the cockpit layout and I have bought a £5 paint job (do with all my ships).

Price, not too bad to buy, but A rating requires winning the federation lottery [haha].

I would loose quite a few mil trading it in, but what else could I buy for a all-rounder with the ship launch fighter option, the ship options are a bit slim.

I want a Federation version/copy of the Imperial Clipper with a fighter bay or a bigger Asp Explorer with a fighter bay, with the load out of a Anaconda and this weeks lottery numbers and Taylor Swift as my wife [big grin], can't have everything.

Just a bit disappointed with it.

I do find my Asp Explorer as the best all-rounder.

Big ships in Elite are kind of a "love them or hate them" sort of thing. I personally love the biggest ships (dat Cutter), and prefer flying large ships over small ships. My buddy can't stand the large ships, and he recently sold his A-Rated Corvette for a FGS since he liked having a ton of weapons, but couldn't stand the size of the Vette.

I'd say that the Asp is the best all-rounder PRE-ENGINEERS. The Python probably usurps it now, imo.

But seeing your weapons rise up out the deck, and smiting your enemies? That feeling of sheer *power* when your weapons rip through your opponent?

That feeling of sinking dread when your shields go and your powerplant dies?

Anacondas are fantastic!

very true.

i don't like flying large ships ... i like what you can do with them/ in them :) i have an explonda (it has more character than an exploration AspE), but i use my DBE whenever i can, and i have a trutter, because cargo space.

you can simply outfit an armade of small ships - and shipransfer and modulstorage coming in 2.2. will make it much more convenient to fly them all.

take your conda to the current cg, make one trade run - and sell it. with the profits from the CG you should not have made any loss.

or - take it exploring. it has a special floating feeling, that space whale.

Anacondas are awesome you are either:
1. Doing "it" wrong
2. Faling into the "I don't really like big ships" category
3. Doing "it" wrong.

I took mine on a 200kly round trip pre engineers over a period of 4 months and then made a considered opinion after I realised how inadequate my Asp was in comparison (Still love the Asp btw).

Give her longer and remember if you sell her you lose 10% ship cost in monetary resale value. That's 12 mil creds down the Kaiser.

Federal gunship IS the poor man's anaconda
and this weeks lottery numbers
Got it right here in my pocket.

and Taylor Swift as my wife [big grin]
Naw man. Just.... no. I mean she's cute and all, but......

Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time.

What's an Anaconda But?

I did a silly! <(^-^)>

I love me Conda, all Turret build apart from me big Dakka Dakka underneath. She's a beaut.

OP given your description, I get the idea that you haven't upgraded the thrusters at all, which would indeed mean that the Anaconda flies like a brick/tanker. This goes basically for any of the large ships in that regard.

Outfit her with A-rated drives at the very earliest convenience which will go a long way in upping her handling. If you're up for it, try engineering her drives. Grade 3 Dirty Drive tuning isn't all that hard to attain, yet even a mediocre roll on the A-drives should get your normal cruising speed at 250ish MS when fully kitted @ 4 pips and will give you a lot better feel.

Talking about the best all-rounder, the Anaconda is the epitome of the multi purpose ships but the Python ranks as a close second in my opinion. I found the Asp X a bit too fragile for my personal tastes and even for exploring my go to ship was the DBX before, but now I'll head out in my exploraconda. before you ask, yes I own multiple Anaconda's. one in a full multi purpose build (for missions/CG's/daily use), one in full exploration kit which features a fighter-bay since yesterday ;) and one rather empty looking hulk which I used to store some modules on, for which I'll have to find a use now. (once the bug in module storage is fixed)

Than.....
You will love the PYTHON!!!
Welcome to the club ;)

You don't need fighters anyway ;) not in a Python

I just bought an Anaconda with a pretty sketchy budget of 30 million to outfit and insure. Quickly found that 7C thrusters are where you need to be to get a decent turn rate. Now she turns nicely with a bit of drift to keep things fun. You can free up a bit of cash quite quickly by downgrading to a class 6 power plant if you're running short.

I have had my Anaconda The Helping Hand for a long time, and she has helped me to build my fleet (she is fully A Rated). When LHS3447 had the station build going on I earned over 100Mcr (and we helped 4 new Players get the 1Mcr reward each, which meant they ended up with Cobra MkIII in very short order). Yes, she has her weaknesses, but she is part of the family, and will not be traded in.

I love the Anaconda! I have found a sweet spot where I am very effective at combat (PvE), Trading (320t), and exploration (26ly jump range unladen) with a few level 5 mods. This ship was definitely worth the wait as i worked up to it. I don't think there is another ship in the game that is as versatile. This will most likely be my main ship for some time.

The ONLY thing I dislike about my Anaconda is the cockpit placement. I had the darndest time getting her through a station toaster rack no matter how many times I've done it. When I got a Cutter I thought "this is gonna be baaaddd" but wasn't; it's easier to maneuver the Cutter through the rack than the Anaconda, at least for me.

I remember when I got the funds for mine (Diso Ma Corn tycoon) I was over the moon. Here's her eventual loadout:

Betty the Anaconda

I went whole hog and A-rated her, but you don't really have to do that. I'd say that crucial to you're liking her would be a thruster upgrade first; 7C and dirty tuning 3 at least & she will feel less like a humpback whale and more like a killer whale :D

You can certainly skip the 8A power plant unless you're running insane shield boosters & heat weapons. Even then, I am not sure it was worth the cost of the 8A. Remember, sometimes it's better to drop a letter-grade to get better performance.

If I was doing another Anaconda now (which I might do), for a freighter loadout, I'd concentrate on speed (thrusters), shield gen & boosters and FSD & then Engineer those to as best a level (even 1) as you can (many first/second levels use cheap & easy to find mats). Try for a very fast, slippery ship & hi-wake instead of fight in order to use your ship to pay for herself with trading (which she does so well). After that, you can buy another one for pewpew :)

Betty has been superseded by the HMS Indefatigable (Imp Cutter) for trading (as they both are confined to large pads) so I am going to give Betty a makeover as a cushy long-range explorer. But with guns :)

I love the Anaconda. It the only ship that i love putting turrets on that reminds of star wars.

I've been loving my python so much I hardly noticed the 300 million that had stacked up. So the next step was to treat the family to an anaconda. My first impressions were what a brick as a flew around the station in stock form. After splashing out on A rated thrusters and other bits she started to get a bit easier to fly. I can get it through the toaster slot most times without loosing any paint. After a few engineering upgrades she is becoming a real joy to fly. I've now got loads of guns and shields now and loving destroying everything I meet.

Until last night, I got careless to another conda with a fighter deployed and Boom!!!
I hadn't taken note or the rebuy, 17 million, Ouch.
I'd like to say lesson learned but I'll loose another soon.
