He's something that puts the whole "transferring your conciousness" thing more eloquently than I managed. It's talking about teleporters, but the argument applies just as well to transferring consciousnesses into electronic boxes.

Machines can never be truly sentient, because of the simple fact that humans invented the word "sentient".
So, by the same logic/reasoning:
"Inert matter can never be truly sentient because: quarks and atoms are not sentient" (?)
No. Um, yes. Maybe. Let's go with reasoning, not logic. How is that related though?

Well. Um...
- Humans consist of inert matter (quarks, atoms)
- Humans are "sentient"
- Machines consist of inert matter
- There is therefore no "reason" that machines cannot become "sentient"
I'm pretty sure your phone, calculator, PC and even any random machine in your house just learned what "hating" means
