Newcomer / Intro I have stopped running.

I have been a peaceful person in my first month of play. The first thing I have done to every ship including Cobra, Asp and first Sideiwnder was rip it clean of weaponry. I had other things to do, like buying a Cobra and an Asp and all that entails. I also streamed through the galaxy to Cygnus X-1, it was a rush.
Every encounter I have had to run.

Today I stopped running. I hopped into a Sidey, tricked it up a bit and started on my quest to lose credits. Ah, a nice anarchic system, not far from the area I call home.

Many interdictions later, all of them ending up with me limping home extremely happy I bought the 7.5 minute life support. Extremely sad at the disastrous load-out I thought would be just perfect.

Finally, my first kill, an Eagle hanging out at the nav point. They fired first! 8000 credits. Celebrate!

My second kill in my slippery Sidewinder was a pretty good fight. My shields gone, their shields on the very edge. My hull at 84% I hit the frame drive. Determined for glory, CANCEL. Swoop, slide here, now. a nice pancake in my view, yellow and shiny like it was covered in butter and maple syrup. Beams, shields down first missle hit, second missle a bit early, miss. Third... a hit . Yummy Cobra :D for breakfast. Salty but sweet and a bit more fluffy than I first expected.

In this Galaxy if you go looking for trouble you normally find it.
When after Elite Anaconda in a Cobra without known combat system and that did not end well. But good experience and lead to a better weapons loadout.

Ah, your first kill young padawan. And it felt good, yes?

I feel the dark side of the force growing stronger within you.

:D

Go get em commander!

My first game-changer, just in case you haven't discovered it, replace those stock lasers with gimbled lasers...

You'll find murdering a lot easier.

Feels great don't it? Then the NPCs start to get sneaky on you. Last night in my Viper, I got interdicted by a Python while bouncing around the edge of populated space. It was a good clean fight until he was down to about 8% when he went full speed and tried to ram me from only 400m away. I was quick enough to thruster out of it, flipped around and went full beam lasers and multicannon into him. I was ecstatic when I got him down to 0% and was counting my chickens when he did it again! He rammed me right before blowing up and next thing I know, I'm confirming my insurance payment! ARGH!

But guess what, it turns out I got the 32k credit bounty because he blew up after I did so I guess the system credited me anyway? I just had to travel 35ly to claim it.

I'm hightailing it back to populated space. I've been interdicted by Pythons, Anacondas, Dropships and Imperial Clippers and I'm just about 220ly from Sol.

In which case, 2x gimballed multicannon on the medium hardpoints, 2x fixed beam lasers on the small.

Provided, of course, you have the powerplant to make everything go. The Viper is a balance between the power you can produce and the power you can project.

Played a bit in the Viper with not much great success yet but few attempts so far. I am well over my limit on power, so in fighting mode the cargo hatch, FSD and life support are shunted offline. It is kind of interesting to have your fighting time dependent on your emergency reservoir so an A rated module is a must.

Yeah - having to switch off life support would be a... sub-optimal approach to combat.

If you have the A3 shield, you don't really need a shield cell bank, in my opinion. Might help you save power.

Yep, did the trick, thank you. the worst part about running that way is not the time limitation but the auditory cues you miss out. It is like being inside Darth Vader's suit.
