by the way, when modding the modules for FAS make sure at all costs not to increase heat generation on ANY engineering. My FAS will overheat if you shine a torch on it.

Fed rank was a lot harder than Empire rank from my experience. I ranked up doing data delivery (boring as hell) and then surface scans which were more fun to King. Federation, I just couldn't find a good surface scan location and so it was back to data delivery in Ceos/Sothis and that made me remember Empire grinding that way and I gave up.

Might have to just do passenger missions as mentioned as that at least can be more fun...

If all you do is one thing over and over then that's your choice. Any negative results from that activity are on you, not the game. You chose to do that mindless repetitive activity to artificially advance your position, then you moan about it.

Let's see... There's Bounty Hunting, Mining, Trading and Exploration. All of which are mindless, repetitive activities when done more than once, provided to you by the game. Just playing the game itself is a grind. So what do you expect?
