I have the range, so why can't I jump directly?

Just doing a transport mission and the drop-off system (HIP 23816) is only 17.4LY away from the pick-up location ( HIP 21991}, my ship has a current jump range of 44.3LY yet it won't allow me to make the trip in a single jump. I select the system from the Nav. panel and it's two jumps. It's not just this time either, it happens all the time with different systems.

I easily have the range, so why is this?

You may have selected the economic routes in the galmap??.

maybe if you provide us screenshots of the nav panel and the ship panel? with this info we can help you more easily. The cargo that you carry can lower the range of your ship to less than 17 ly

Make sure you have your map tab on realistic, or whatever. The other tabs filter out lots of stars and will cause this. If you look at your destination on the map and the star doesn't show, this is your issue.

Do you have "use jet cone boost" selected and is the first jump to a neutron star?

I've literally seen the map plotter add extra jumps to "take advantage" of neutron boost.

I'm sure your jump range is empty, however as mentioned just select the planet don't use the plotter and try again.
