I heard there was a problem with Shadow Missions?

Point remaining if you get interdicted by feds while trying to do shadow run mission you will fail it 100% of the time. You have to either hope they spawn in systems you are just jumping through or log out when you see there chatter pop up in comms about wanting to scan you.

Really, is that so? That's funny since I just boosted my happy Asp off as a Fed was telling me to comply as the scan wouldn't take long.

Hyperjump!!

Nothing is a 100% fail.

ok. last time i say this, and im not gonna say everything this time, you can search older posts if you want the whole a b c of it..

Always run a smuggle mission with 4 pips to engine.
always have maxed out a rated thrusters.
always have maxed out a rated power distributor

When you get interdicted throttle to 0
Don't try to win.
Keep the nose pointed at the target system marker.
once you have submitted full throttle and boost.
if its space police. Boost again
And boost again.
fsd has cooled down so engade that.
Boost again.
And you are gone scan did not complete..

Slightly different if its a pirate: so...

When you get interdicted throttle to 0
Don't try to win.
Keep the nose pointed at the target system marker.
once you have submitted full throttle and boost.
if its a pirate don't boost again.
just wait for the fsd to cool down (get shot who cares you have sheilds)
Then Fsd out of there..
If duruing that time a space cop arrives just in front of you
as soon as you see him start boosting (you will be glad you didnt waste boosts on the pirate)
Boost again.
and boost again.
Engae fsd.
keep boosting
and you are gone. scan did not finish..

the important part is keeping your nose pointing at the target destination whilst you submit.
if you do that then you can boost in a straight line away from the space cops puting the most distance between the both of you in the shortest amount of time..

It really is that simple..
the only time you should fail on scan is if they ambush you at an out post or a hub.
and they will do that some times..

in that case you should try the target them and deploy hard points technique as a last resort.

Read it.

Read it again.

If you are still unsure, then read it for a third time (they say things stick better after three reads).

It really is this simple folks. Don't make it any harder than it needs to be.

+ rep Sir!

This is just not true.

shambles1980 is 100% correct - only other thing I would add is to disable 'Report crimes against me' as it will only increase the likelihood of the police turning up.

Agreed with the OP -- the missions are fine. I've made 300+ million from them since the Horizons update, without ever having been scanned/failed a mission. Like others have said, if you have a fast ship and know what to do (submit when interdicted, immediately boost away then activate FSD), you've got nothing to worry about.

Q : I got ambushed at an Outpost, so I targeted security vessel and deployed hardpoints and broke his scan. I then tried to go and land but less than a minute later he started another scan and though I still had him targeted , he got me !!
What should I have done to break his 2nd scan ? (answers if you know, no guesses please :) )

If I get ambushed I just tend to go back into supercruise and then back out again

In those situations, you just have to wake out then come back later. Trying to break the scan then land before you get scanned again isn't going to work unless you get really lucky, at least at an outpost where you can't break the scan by going through the mailslot like you can at large stations.

On the rare occasions when something like that happens to me, I just jump to a new system and complete another of my deliveries, then return to the original system a bit later. (I haven't tried jumping to supercruise within the system, but that may work as well.) Alternatively, if you don't have another delivery you can go make and/or are feeling a bit exploit-y, you can get clear of the scanning vessel then simply log out then back in to reset the instance.

Cheers, but I was close to the Outpost, mass locked !!!! I guess next time I should turn and face security and boost past...

Chances are that by the time you execute the turn and zip past the secuirty ship, they'd complete the scan. The safer option would just be to boost in a different direction away from the security ship (and the station).

99% of the time - Cops will inform you in SC before they drop out with you next to an outpost or station. I'll unlock the destination and manually drop out 30km, shoot the cop to stop the scan then head to the outpost. If in my Python, I'll normally kill the cop, or just just shoot them, low wake and drop back into the station. Have not been successfully scanned once

I think folks are overstating any issues they are having with these missions. Either that or they are stacking them so high and deep in their ships that the entire galaxy is out looking for them and in that case they are attracting WAY too much attention and getting what they deserve in that respect.

Exactly. But if someone fails they'll inevitably claim it is 'impossible', no matter how many people succeed left and right of them. Even in this very topic there are people claiming things are impossible that I, and with me many others, routinely perform. Luckily FD relies more on telemetry than the forums, so they can easily see whether or not things truly are impossible or not. Remember that with +-1m sold copies there will be people who completely fail at everything no matter how easy you make the game, just as there will always be people complaining its too easy no matter how difficult it is.

As always: ignore the whining on the boards and just try it yourself. 9/10 cases its just a load of from people who cant take responsibility for their own failings. Not even in a computer game...

1) You'll be informed of him chasing you in SC, so keep an eye on comms.
2) Look at your radar: are you close to a celestial body? If yes, slam the sucker into it. AI pilots are terrible at avoiding planets during (trying to initiate the) interdiction, as are most cmdrs. Just fly around the planet and try to keep distance.
3) If that fails make a choice: deal with him before dropping out at the station, or after but before entering the NF-zone.
4) If he former: let him interdict you and attack him. Dont kill him, the bounty will be for a week. Just shooting him a bit will give a tiny bounty. Jump back to SC, most cops are reluctant to chase if you just shot them. :)
5) If the latter, stop your ship when dropping out of SC and repeat the above. Make sure you stay out of range of the station. If needed, jump back and out of SC if you :):):):):):) the station off.

Just deplying HP might break scans, but its a feeble and weak way to deal with it. Hitting the target will prevent him from scanning 100% of the time. Finally, make sure no other cops join the fight, if they do shoot them immediately or they'll happily scan you!
