I hope I ruin someone’ Christmas

I was being here for quite some time. Always “playing nice” to others. Trying to be helpful and give advice to new players. Never doing anything that can spoil someone else’s game experience.
And having fun myself with a great (or at least I thought so) game. Buying paintjobs for ships I do not use because “at some point in future I may need them”, planning to play for years.
I even found a nice system and spent almost 2 years supporting factions and setting “political environment“ to my liking. Very far at the outskirts of the bubble with 1-2 ships in daily “traffic report” (almost always my ships). And, most importantly, pre-discovered, so no silly names on planets in “first discovered” tag. Ideal place to enjoy the game.

Then someone in FD decided it would be extremely amusing to allow “first discovered/first mapped” crap on such systems.
Well, I can live with my name on it. Does not make me happy, but at least it is not immersion/lore breaking. So I parked my DBX and waited for update to end.
Then I spent 5 hours trying to launch the game. Finally started it only to see someone (who does not have any problems getting into the game) already dumped his name on some planets.
Worst thing I cannot even meet that CMDR in game to repeatedly kill him for a couple of days. Because he probably plays on PS/Xbox. Not like that may help anyway.

So I closed the client, took a smoke-break and realized there is no reason to respect other players’ needs and wishes.
Spent this time trying to dump my name on every planet in systems, which are known homes of player factions. While selling exploration data to pirates and killing system authority to disturb BGS as much as possible.
Yes, it is griefing in its purest form. Using the game mechanics in attempt to ruin someone else’s enjoyment. And I hope it ruined the game for at least some players.
Never done such things before, but now I do not care. I will certainly will not play this crap game anymore. And will not buy anything in store for me or my wise’s accounts (good thing her credit card is not usable for payments in internet, and I will pay from my).
I do not want to spend another year or two to make a new home system. Which will be ruined in one day by some idot. So if I had to quit the game because someone decided to change things “just for fun”, I will spend some time to make others stop playing too. Good thing it a Christmas on the horizon, it usually make people much more sad when they see hatred at that time.
So report me, try to get me banned, reply with trash-posts. Say “it is only a game” or put stupid memes about “haz your stuff”.

You should work this into your character story and roll with it (you're halfway there by the looks of it). There are lots of unmapped systems still in the bubble. I see them as I ferry mods back and forth between engineer systems.

My gods, you have a thin skin... beside that it's a bit sad the way you overstate your actions importance, but if it makes you happy.
Just wait until you get a job in real life and experience real frustration...

never understood why the first discovered/mapped tags were such a big deal.

anyway, welcome to online gaming OP. enjoy your "ruin it for others" escapade. as long as you're enjoying the game, that's whats important. :)

It is hard for me to imagine a more petty, self absorbed, mean spirited, or pathetic post than this OP.

Oh, I managed to plaster my name all over a system after 3.3. I assume that this might make the OP more angry now that he knows that someone managed to do what he tried to do, but failed.

That said, I do think that "first discovered" and "first mapped" shouldn't apply to any system with human population. It just doesn't make any sense in my opinion. Those people who build those space stations did it without discovering the system they live in? Wooot?

Well, you can't ruin anyone's Christmas in the game if you don't play the game.
Apart from that there is no reason to make other people feel miserable because somebody made you feel miserable. That way of thinking actually causes a lot of pain in real life, not just ingame. It's crap.
Make a change, stay a nice guy.

You should probably remove post scriptum, I think. Selling exploration data to pirates and killing system authority to disturb BGS are things you can do, there is nothing wrong with that, it is hardly griefing.

If it makes you feel any better, OP, I literally couldn't care less about whose name appears on what.

It means nothing to me.

Go first discover the whole galaxy for all I care.
