I hope this will happen in Odyssey expansion

I'm so hyped for Odyssey expansion, and I guess many of you are, too. The trailers are very well made and exciting. The atmospheric landing will be a fine addition to the game, not to mention the graphics being upgraded, which is also a huge plus, and many other features you guys probably figured out yourselves.

However, I wonder if we are allowed to "float in space" just like some other games (let's say Star Citizens, Space Engineers...), I mean we land on an Outpost, then we can get out of the ship, jump into space and float around with our jetpack. I know that may sound useless but I can't help thinking about how great it would be if we could do that, the Devs said that they wanted us to explore without restrictions, so this should be a feature in the release.

P/s: Imagine how amazing it is when you can float in space in such a place in this screenshot.

1. There will be no real atmo landings.
2. Pretty sure jetpack hover distance would be pretty limited. People usually able to float higher in SRVs by using geysers or ship recall tricks. It would be cooler if we could exit ships anywhere in space, but I really doubt it will be a thing and don't suppose there would be any gameplay to support it.

You can do it in X4! Greate game!

You can also do it in that alpha test walking sim with the initials SC.

I really hope Frontier adds this too!

Don't build up expectations for anything that hasn't been explicitly shown or said will come.

As far as we know, EVA in space will not be possible.

Ah, but what if I stood on your ship with my magnetic boots and you gently climbed into outer space? You can't do EVA from your ship, but the game is full of people doing things that weren't supposed to be able to do, more of that please!

You mentioned no actual atmo landings, can you tell me more about this? I thought it was a confirmed feature in Odyssey.

The argument is that the current propsed landings are little more than what we already have but with a couple of new shaders thown in to simulate tenuous atmosphere, much like Old Duck's mods. Some airless bodies already have a temporary tenuous atmosphere at times causes by out gassing and heating of the surface. So the idea is that real atmospheric landing will be when we can land on bodies with close to earth pressure or more.

I see, so it's like the planets are the same, they just add some sort of shaders to make us feel it's atmospheric. However, if atmospheric landings are somewhere close to what was shown in the trailers, I'm quite okay with that.

By the way, very well noticed, Commander.

Sure, that might be possible, but its not something the devs are delivering per se.

Its not like FD added the ability to go EVA in space in your SRV, just people got creative.

I would also like to eva out in open space. Just for freedom sake.

If they have to add some maintenance or repair gameplay to justify it that would be fine too.

Missions to Eva into structures to look for missing persons or to repair infrestructure are surprisingly fun. In SC there are missions to go into a decommissioned station to investigate an accident for some dudes wife's insurance policy. Other missions to fix com arrays.

For exploration you can have eva exploration of stellar phenomenon.

I'm going back into that dangerous "what if" territory with Elite Dangerous like when i first started playing in 2016 where I watched the kickstarter material wondering of all the possibilities. But here i am 4 years later with the game having a few grindy bolt on features and QOL. So i don't have high hopes for much freedom or depth in Odyssey. Best to just wait and see

All these are literally what I would like them to add to the new expansion. Eva exploration sounds dope tho.
