I hyperspaced into a system inbetween two close stars. help.

As title says, I hyperspaced into a system just like any other system at normal.

As soon as I jumped into the system it appeared from the very brief moment that I got caught in the heat sphere of a star and exited supercruise the moment I entered the system, I am in between two binaries, And was overheating FAST.

I didn't want to loose 500 systems+ of exploration data so I turned off my computer as my flinch reaction to this, did I die? Will I explode if I log back in?

I really wish we didn't exit into a star, I was actually thinking something like this would happen with binary twins.. :(

Well, only way to know if you exploded is to check, although if the game interpreted it as a wild disconnection maybe it put you somewhere else in the system.

When you log in, disable all the modules you can and see if your heat stabilizes.

Ouch!
I had the same thing happen to me while playing the Beta, I got caught between two bright white stars . I quickly logged off as you did.
When i logged back on i started overheating rapidly, so i turned off almost all of my ships systems to lett it cool down. then I turned on just the Thrusters so I could start moving away from the stars, It took a long time but eventually i could power up my frameshift drive and engage supercruise without overheating.

But this is one of the risk of entering a unexplored system or not checking the system before entering.

Good luck CMDR! hope you get out alive. Fly safe!

Thanks for the tips and experience!!!

I will try this, gotta be VERY QUICK lol.

Once it happened to me that the game crashed right after exiting from witchspace. After I relogged, I found my ship spawned several hundreds LSs from the main star. Maybe you'll get the same result. Maybe.

Had similar happen to me too. I feel for you and hope you get out of there safely.

I have to say, your flinch reaction was, while not perhaps ethical in game terms, certainly a good one :)

YAY!!!!!!

Trust me, I'd only do this in this sort of senario when I have a lot at stake and it is NOT PVP but an rare case of bad luck or unintended game design. I ain't no combat logoffskier Arrgggg I a Pirate :D XD

Heat Trap

I had that happen to me as well when I exited into a three star system and flew through a corona on exiting hyperspace.

I had a brief moment of saying what the **** before rolling the ship and going full power the the engines to get away fast enough to cool the ship down.

I managed to get away from the hot suns with no shields and 78% hull left.

I hope you make it out of the heat trap :))

heh, no criticism intended :)

I would call it bad luck rather than bad design tbh. Jumping blind into an unknown star system isn't the safest occupation. (Yes, I am an explorer)

Happened to me earlier today, but I was easily able to move to a safe distance.

You usually don't even start to take damage until around 140-150% heat, and a fully repaired ship can often survive moments of well over 200% and still be able to make it in for repairs.

I wonder about that "usually". Isn't it a 100% safe rule that damage only happens starting at 150%? That's what it's been in my experience, anyway. 147%? No problem whatsoever. 150%? Damage starts.

This is correct. 150% is where damage starts.

Yes you are correct, but I happened to actually Crash into the star which forced me to go into normal space but i was still overheating fast so I couldn't do anything because I would have blown up just by existing in that instance, I was so close to the surface for that moment.

It would be very interesting to know whether components in ships wear out quicker the hotter the ship is run.

When Hyper spacing I always line the target of to one side of the system marker, so I arrive slightly of set from the star but still facing them.

Imho this along with ppl ALT+F4'ing in pvp, interdictions or just plain whenever things don't go their way warrants introduction of something EVERY online game has - a logout timer.

As to the OP's situation, isn't that what Heatsinks are for? Not prepared for even the rarest of occurences = dead. I ran out of fuel mid SC with 500k+ worth of scanning coz I forgot to check fuel - lesson learned :)

Bu the way what kind of a binary was it? I've seen even quadruple As/ binaries orbiting (see eye candy) and I didn't hit anything.
I guess asking so I can avoid.

It was two F class star binarys (white main sequence) I actually jumped into one of the stars area of effect and was wedged right in between the stars (they were very very close)

As someone suggested, Not even heat sinks would save me, I would have died even in supercruise whilst trying to escape, I was that close to the sun, Btw, if we were able to use heat sinks in supercruise, then no problem.
