I just bought the Odyssey Deluxe pre-order.

I have no idea. As I said, it's apparently for the same reason people couldn't back when the game was launched in Epic Games.

I just wanted to pre-order it so I could help them and go back to play my regular Elite Dangerous, but seems like I got punished for pre-ordering it.

Pre-order anything is a way for businesses to float customer money for free, makes good sense for them if enough people buy into it.

I've always been baffled by the ability of game developers to get people to pay them money to test their products.

I would pre-order only if the game was cheaper than after the launch. I don't know if it is. Anyone have a clue?

No issues with the game after ordering the deluxe preorder through Frontier Store, and there was no download from there either.

Yeah. Im literally thinking that too. Its going to go 10 or 15% off a few weeks after launch, or hit the key sites... These days all the options are realistic, so the one where you pay frontier the most should be the most attractive you'd think.
