Ahem. Okay, even with a 3302 spin on it, that gag will never really be funny
It's true though.
The 52,500LY part, not the tired arms part.
Though I have to say extended use of my HOTAS has actually given me an aching shoulder.
Where was I? Oh yes, that's right - back where I started.
Actually, a bit further than where I started, because Distant Worlds advanced from WP11 to WP14 in the meantime, and I have to add that in too.
What? Get on with it? Okay okay...
Right, so. During filming for Turjan's Travels #5 - "Space Zombies" I dinged my Asp (yes, oo-er madam etc
). I was too busy thinking about shot composition and didn't notice the Neutron Star running towards me saying 'I'm ready for my close up Mr.DeMille!'. Okay, no biggie - I dinged my Asp last time I visited Sag A* and just carried on then, what of it?
Well this time, I'm making Distant Worlds story videos as I trek along, and I keep collecting footage that I might be able to use in later episodes. So now I faced the horror that all moviemakers dread - CONTINUITY ERRORS!
I thought "Oh great, now if I intercut that older footage my hull integrity will bounce back and forth!" So I made the decision to head back to the bubble for repairs.
I'll just clarify that : I made the decision to return to the bubble for a 2% hull repair, all in the name of artistic integrity.
Yes that's right - I am a fool...
I thought, "I'm no Buckyballer to be sure, but...how hard can it be? I flew out here easily enough, can't be that hard popping back then rejoining the DWE...can it?" Ah, the naivety! So I set off - and after 5k LY in one session and a splitting headache, was wishing I hadn't. But with every jump towards Sol, the idea of just sucking up that 2% and turning around became less and less viable. And when the bubble was now closer than Sag A*, I knew it was too late - I now had to follow my foolish decision through.
And at that point I still hadn't finalised the script, voices and editing for Space Zombies so I still had all that to do as well
However, there was nothing else for it, so I just carried on. I reached civilisation on Feb 22nd, and groaned as I realised that instead of the 23k LY I'd just done, I now had a return journey of probably 29k LY to catch up with the DW Expedition.
I managed to finish and upload Space Zombies to YouTube - and happily got an immediate morale boost from the positive comments it received (thanks everyone for those!
). With the help of that lift and some musical assistance from a travel playlist of Stellardrone and Gorillaz, I did indeed manage to make it back, just in time to reach WP14 at about 5 to midnight on the 26th

Upshot of this tale is, I was impressed by the stamina of Buckyballers before this experience, but that admiration has definitely turned to total awe now!
Oh, and one other thing - if I manage to prang my kite again, I don't care how much of a continuity problem it may create for my viewers, I am NOT doing that bloody run again!!
