I just got a mission from a random NPC

A new "emergent content" just happened to me. I was flying in super cruise minding my own business and had an NPC ask me to "follow their wake" I had no other missions in my queue. I had just left a planet after filling my cargo hold with scavenged loot. I thought what the heck and dropped into the NPC wake and got a 20k mission to drop off info at an outpost.

Never had this happen prior to the version 2.0.0.8 patch. I hope this event is on purpose. It makes flying around in super cruise more interesting.

I've only ever thought these were to lure you from Missions you took on - I hope not else they all get ignored.

You probably did an assassination mission not too long ago. If you complete some assassination missions, the 'friends' from your target tell you to follow their wake. They then tell you you did something very bad, but you can repay for your sins by doing a small mission for them. Had that happen a lot the last two months or so. As far as I can remember those 'missions' didn't exist before that.

Mission offers from passing strangers

This has been around for a while -- I was offered a juicy assassination last week, and there have been a couple of haulage/courier offers prior to that...
