I just got scanned by system security while sitting on the docking pad inside an Orbis

So... I just got scanned by system security while sitting on the docking pad (pad #13) in my Imperial Courier, INSIDE Shajn Market in the Kamadhenu system (Arissa's capitol). The Scan Detected message occurred after I completed docking, and then I got the "you're free to go, Commander" message from System Security (that's how I know who scanned me).

Didn't cause any problems for me, as I had no cargo at all, much less anything illegal, but I was under the impression that wasn't supposed to be possible. Might cause a real problem for some smuggler types!

I'm guessing that's a bug and I should report it, but looking for some confirmation before I do...

Interesting. Was this just after you landed? If so, he was probably lining up for a scan while you were landing and was able to get an angle through the slot to scan you. Otherwise, you likely were scanned through the station and it was a bug. :p

HI All,

I had the same last night.
I got scanned on the pad by a System Authority. One of my friends was on-line and he could also scan me from outside the station. He could see me outside the station and my ship was rotating with the station. Looks like position in the instance is different for the 2 observers (my ship in question and my friend). I am guessing he was the owner of the NPC system authority ship.

Alas he had SC away before we could line up for F-10 and bug report.

If it happened *very* shortly after you completed docking, it could have been lag related.

I've been experiencing thruster lag during undock, where thrusters don't immediately fire, and some other occurrences of lag I can't name right now, but I was surprised several times in the last few days, since the game so far had never given me any noticeable signs of lag.

Since they "fixed" the stuttering in SC, my game now stutters in SC for the first time! Never had that problem before...

I would agree it does seem lag related. Have you noticed anything else, such as position snap-backs of yourself or other ships?

I've seen "docked" NPC ships floating inside the station, spinning round and round the perimeter, going through the walls. I considered this to be another CMDRs NPCs, and we have a positional or rotational (or both) offset between us, so he would see it docked. Bear in mind that MY ship is moving in a circle relative to a stationary CMDR outside the station. I think it's possible for ships outside of stations to be locked to an object which isn't the station if it's close enough, e.g. if you drop out at the planet rather than the SS by accident and then move towards the SS, your "location" at the bottom left is the planet until you're in the NFZ. Planets don't rotate/move at the same rate as the station, so relative position/movement of two ships could be very different. If that's the case, in theory another CMDRs NPC System Security Vessel could be inside the station and scan you. Scary for smugglers, especially if you dock and there's no BM there. :)
