I just had the worst costomer service experience of my life

I just have to share this, because we tend to forget what a gem of a company Frontier is.

I bought Destiny 2 with couple of my friends. We enjoyed playing Borderlands franchise together, and this is just the next best thing, right now. (In a sense the exact copy of the system)
We've played for a couple of days and had great fun. The game isn't bad at all.

But then a patch came in and we started to encounter connection issues (D2 has P2P connection, like Elite does)
After doing everything we can to find out whether the fault could be on our side of things (it wasn't), I asked support for help.

Their response is shocking.
They recommended me to stop playing, because players with connection problems are causing performance issues for other players, which can result in a permanent ban of my account. They also said that the best thing I can do is to try and ask for a refund on battle.net. Period.
Wow.
These people just don't care.

So thumbs up, Frontier. You're doing great! [up]

It would seem when it comes to some big companies they often do not care about customer service, in the big scheme of things whether they lose you as a customer really wont affect them. The support people are just a small cog in a big wheel and management can be so far removed, so many layers in between, that they do not even get to hear about such things.

Smaller companies generally are the opposite, although there are always exceptions.

That's terrible. You ought to send that story to the professional media sites like pcgamer etc and see if it gets some traction. No excuse for that sort of carry on.

It's possible that they will catch on this anyway. If you look at Bungie forums, they are currently flooded by complaints about networking and non-existent official statement about it.

That is so pathetic its almost funny. Almost. :(

Of course I did.
The thing is, I have played it for three or four days (before the cursed patch), so if their policy is anything like Steam, no luck.

My only hope is that I won't be the only one. Judging by their forums, I won't be, but then again, we all know that forums are rarely the true image of a game.

Technically, I think your purchase falls under the consumer rights law, or whatever it's called these days.
You can demand a refund, because it's not fit for purpose.

Usually just the threat of legal action will force their hand. It's probably not worth actually going through with it though. Lol

Also threaten to go to the magazine with it, bad press is usually bad news for them. If they have a shred of sense, they'll sort you out.

I would absolutely contact the gaming press.

This kind of story could make people see how bad Destiny really is! :)

Seriously, played the first game. Stopped once the DLC started coming out, as Bungie/Activision made sure to effectively block you from playing if you had no DLC.

So... an update. My ticket has been successfully closed and I was contacted by a bot (how heartwarming) who informed me that with Blizzard, all sales are final. No refunds. :)

So that's two companies on my blacklist in one day. Life is great. :D

Heh, I don't think Blizzard cares about things like this. As long as they keep DLCing WoW, they don't have to worry about anything and anyone. ;)

edit:
And Bungie "help" forum is really amusing, today (page 1 out of 7):

Ah yes, the mindless WoW sheep will be Blizzard going for eternity. :p

You can still threaten legal action for a product failing to be fit for purpose.

You also have a legal right to a refund for 14 days I think. It could even be 30.

Look it up and slam them with it.

Or just review bomb the game. :D

Lol! So many bans.

"Thou shall not play!"

That is unfortunately not the case. Blizzard's return policy says that the refunds only cover "accidental purchase" (=bought a game, didn't start installing it and immediately asked for a refund)
Once you've installed and played any amount, the game's yours. They don't believe they could have any unhappy customers.

Thats literally unbelievable, good thing you could refund. Speechless.

Yeah, there are probably people in Syria and Iraq who are glad they don't have to go through that. Phew :O

well, regrdless, with the quote above you have a solid case for that not being final. if they themselves admit the product is unusable for you, they owe you money, "period". i assume you meet the required specs?

or that. ommmmm ...

yeah just wait until frontier is bought by some of those big thug companies ... oh wait!

that said, destiny 2 is quite ok. i have had some connection issues too but nowhere near those i regularly have seen in elite. go figure. the game itself is nothing special, just a shooter fun in coop i'll be playing with a bud for a couple of weeks, but for what it is it's really spectacular. sorry for you, man.

Yes, like I said, I was playing for several days with no problems, all maxed, 60FPS. The game is nicely optimized and surprisingly quite fun (at least with other people). Compared to the Borderlands 2 level of awesomeness it's kinda rubbish, but still, fun shoot'n'loot experience.

The trouble here is that Bungie and Blizzard have nothing to do with one another. The fact that Bungie told me to get a refund is nice of them, but refunds are up to Blizzard. And they say "You've played the game. Screw you" although it was a crappy game update (something that occurred after the purchase and beyond my control) that caused the game to be unplayable.

I'll wait a month or two. Maybe they'll fix it. Too many people are having the same problems. If they ignore it, well, their loss, I suppose. Although... not really, right? They're not refunding. :D

Well, here's one potential customer they lost because of this.
