I just jumped through a star

Coming out of hyperspace the first thing I see is a sun, the surface approaching fast then a strange sound and an other sun in front of me. The most scary moment in my Elite Dangerous time.

I jumped through a smaller F class star to a "sol sized" F class star.

Distance between the two suns is a few ls. To bad that ED isn't dynamic. Those suns so close together should be rotating at an insane speed around each other. The centre of gravity of the two stars is inside the F class star.

I need a break…

They do indeed rotate around each other. There are time lapse videos where people have recorded exactly this, for example:

Number 14 on the list of things you have to have done before you are considered a "real" Commander ;)

Did that in my FDL once.
Not only are stars apparently not hot enough to melt my FDL, I also scooped fuel on the way through it.

Had I done it in any other ship, I'm sure I would have soiled myself alittle.

I jumped into quite a lot of binary systems, but never through a star. Usually the other star is on the side and out of the way. Didn't knew it was possible to safely fly through a star while coming out of hyperspace.

What the world needs to know - where your undies on fire?

Flying with a DBX usually means not having to worry about heat/temperature. Nothing bad happened to my underwear (or anything else). For a short moment the temperature was critical, but no heat damage happened to me, my clothing or the ship.

I would have expected them to rotate faster, much faster - but maybe the size of the suns simply makes it look slow or like they don't move at all.

Heh, I once jumped through a star and ended in the middle of a close quaternary system :O

Hope you had enough heat sinks. Sounds like a fun thing to do.

Now I need to know what the other things on that list are.

1. Boost into a station wall
2. Forget to ask for docking permission
3. Forget that illegal cargo you are carrying
4. I have plently of fuel for the next few jumps
5. Try fuel scooping without a scoop
6. "I just clipped you with that shot, come ooooooon!"
7. Enter combat, deploy hardpoints, lose power
8. Accidentally shooting a station because "Deploy hardpoints when fire is pressed" wasn't disabled
9. Go exploring, forget scanners
10. Go mining, forget refinery
11. Get smacked by one of the "arms" on a coriolis with arms
12. Drop out of Supercruise inside a station
13. Try interdicting, no interdictor
14. Drop out of hyperspace through a star
15. That star can't be scooped
16. Scan detected *bonk*, Scan detected *bonk*, scan detected *bonk*
17. Accidentally ejecting all cargo inside a no fire zone (hadn't removed the binding after getting a new PC)
18. Enter combat forgetting you have no weapons
19. Buy new FSD of the wrong size and launch
20. Boost through slot, get stuck on something big coming in and dragged back inside without docking permission
21. 5 minutes of life support is plenty

I am still collecting them :)
