I just ran into another space pilot flying around.... MYSELF! Talk about weird! pics and video attached..

RARE in game occurrence by chance! I just ran into another space pilot flying around.... MYSELF! Talk about weird! pics and video attached..

I was in the game (full version, NOT the beta) and had been doing some mining and some missions. During one of my flights, was randomly selecting ships to scan when out of the blue, my scanner shows MY in game name, Malakie Tesarn. At first I thought I somehow tagged myself and my ship...

But then I realized there was another ME flying around!!

This guy was flying a Sidewinder.. I do not own one! Interdicted him even to get a close up view... Even his ship was painted White like mine... Thought about shooting him but then decided no, this was too rare to do anything but take some screenshots and a video of!

I wonder if I am the first player this has happened to definitively... after all my game name is a completely fake made up handle I use online that I have used for a decade or more.

Was a very strange feeling though to come across myself flying around in another ship! :S :D

How's that for one of those, 'you never know what you might find in the darkness of space'?

I've said this before... We're all CLONES!
When we die the nearest cloning facility makes a copy of us. But sometimes they mess up and print two copies. So they just shrug their shoulders and turn them both loose at different times thinking they will never meet in this huge galaxy. You have just witnessed proof that what I say is true.

FD keep all Cmdr names in a database table and the NPC generator likely just pools names from that table at random.
It's awesome that you managed to come across an NPC with the same name as you - I think it actually gives the game a sense of realism, after all, you most certainly aren't the only John Smith in the world. :)

Thargoids.
They planned to kill you and replace you with one of their "sleepers", he takes your life, gathers informations, and one day they will attack.
Maybe its not just us, what if high ranked leaders, Capitalship Captains are also part of that plot?
A strike from the inside, the perfect infiltration.
(i could also go with the Fallout 4 Synth stuff...but meh)

LOL could be.. but now I am AWARE of the plot! And I shall be ever vigilant in watching my six.... and my bank account to make it is not hacked by these nefarious beings who have taken my name! :)

I am pretty sure that is the case being I am founder.. But it was still a shock to actually come across myself in all that space with all those names available the game can choose from...

Doppelganger. Immortal now you are.

Was thinking the same thing.. Too bad I cannot team up with .... myself and fool people like twins do! LOL

At least I was able to get both screenshots and a video of it.. I bet there may be a few that might have had this happen at some point and never knew... and I just happen to be in the right place at the right time and click on the right ship at the right moment for whatever reason.... talk about the chances of all that happening and I think I just accomplished something pretty damn rare in game...

This is a subtle commentary on the ephemeral and temporary nature of the self.

That, or you are stuck in a temporal paradox and trying to warn yourself of something.
