I just want to plaaaaaaay (VR ISSUES)

I bought Elite Dangerous last night for the Rift S. First, I had to troubleshoot a Unhandled error and now I just can't login into the launch! I have reset my password so many damn times. This is just getting ridiculous. Any ideas?

If your issue isn't already covered here
then you can either open a new issue on the support website (see above) or give us here a somewhat more detailed description of your problem. Like
  • where did you buy your copy
  • what do you try to do exactly
  • what would you expect to happen
  • what is happening instead (a screenshot or two would't be amiss, either - upload them to an image site limke imgur and link them here, this forum is rather limited regarding pictures).

You have created your account on the Frontier site? I assume that's where you are resetting your password, unless you purchased it via Steam or Epic, in which case the password issue may be their problem, so as Ashnak says, more info please!

I bought the game through Oculus. Frontier says I have an account and I can't register but they send a reset password link. I reset it and it still won't allow a login.

Please describe what you're doing in steps from start to finish (error), so that maybe we will spot the issue.
The Unhandled Error was happening last night when trying to launch the game via Oculus Rift S when the launcher popped up. I found a fix for that and adjusted the config file. But that was the launcher.

Frontier says I have an account and I can't register but they send a reset password link.

Your game must be registered before you can play, stop trying to reset the password contact Frontier support for assistance. The password link is only to reset your Frontier store account but it will do nothing if your game isn't registered.

Does everyone have to contact customer support to register the game or am I special lol

No but after checking the Oculus support link (you did check there right?) it seems to be a common problem with games purchased through the Oculus store.
Mmm, no I didn't check there. Everything was leading me to Frontier so I assumed it was where the issue was. You know what they say about assuming I guess....

The first line of support should always be the place you purchased from, that's who has first line responsibility for support. It's possible the keys supplied by Oculus aren't being properly passed through to Frontier, but since it's second party supplier of keys it's hard to say. It can't hurt contacting frontier support about the issue, but I would also suggest contacting Oculus support, why not try both.

But as mentioned it seems that the frontier account exist already, OP do you have more than one Frontier account / Elite copy?

Yes the Frontier account exists, but the Oculus game key must be registered to that account since it's been purchased through a second party, and that's where it seems to be going wrong.

Yeah sorry, I have a SteamVR headset and assumed it's like with Steam that you need to link these two. I bought on Steam in 2015 so for me the linking account process was trivial.

I reached out to Oculus and they told me to reach out to Frontier (which I did days ago and never heard back.) I am just going to get a refund. Thanks for all the help y'all.
