Im not a big fan of reddit, but the generic elite reddit is not too bad. A bit of bad language at time. Just refresh DBOBE's page every few minutes and click on the context link beneath his answer and it will filter out all of the rest for you.

As to the reason why on reddit, it is easier for Q&A's to get the most popular questions answered.

So I read through all of David Braben's answers and have created a helpful summary of his answers here for your delectation. Good reading:

1) Yes, we have considered it and we're looking into it. Maybe in a future release but not for a time.
2) That's very interesting. It's a good idea and we will probably consider it at some point in the future.
3) The uptake is poor so it's not a priority at the moment. Maybe in the future.
4) We would like to do something like that but it will take further consideration and discussion before we decide whether to go ahead or not.
5) Yes, I agree, something needs to be done about it. We will take it under consideration.
6) If it's possible, we will be improving it, but not just at the moment; it's not a priority.
7) We have 200 people looking at things that need improving. Looking at things, yes.
8) This is something that comes up quite often. Yes. We are going to consider this in the future.
9) Hopefully we can do something about this but there are a number of other things we need to look at first.
10) Maybe :)

#...So, it's a good idea that we are maybe looking into for the future?

Yep that about sums it up perfectly. Seriously don't know why they bother with the Q&A sessions.

Bingo.

I don't really know why people hold Braben's words in such high esteem. He's a CEO, not an active day to day dev.

That list needs the questions too.

Braben has a lot of influence in the direction and development of the game. He's not just the CEO, he's also a big shareholder of Frontier and the Elite franchise. Some vague answers could indicate things.

There wasn't an awful lot of information in the Q&A, but I've condensed the main points down here. Anything else mentioned I think (hope!) as been covered previously, here.

Perhaps the best answer was that to the question of caves, when he replied,

To be fair people expecting mountains of information on 2.4 and 3.0 etc are expecting a bit much on the same day they are releasing 2.3.

And don't forget about the bit about a roadmap:
"We have a rough internal roadmap of headline features, but it is important to have the flexibility to change that - which is why we haven't announced it."
So not even that is clear.

Yeah, this Q&A was mostly Q and not much A at all. I don’t think there was much of anything substantial to take away from it?

Very disappointing, especially with the entire future of the game completely shrouded in secret and mystery right now. We don’t know anything at all post 2.3, the update that goes live today. A little bit of development plans would have been greatly appreciated.

I was a little disappointed even though my expectations were rather low to begin with.. I personally found the most interesting aspect of the interview was when he went of on various nerdy tangents... A very pleasant and entertaining chap to listen to!

I just wish there were a bit more meat on the bone.
