I KNOW it's a game but ...

I feel bad about transporting even Imperial Slaves and I can't leave them in the hold in a Spaceport while I go to bed - I have to finish the run. Is it just me?

I can't even think about dealing in galactic human trafficking, so no... it is not just you.

Well....I'll feel bad once games get very advanced AI's....when they don't know they are AI's I'll feel bad for them. Right now they are really just a named place holder in a DB table...nothing going on there so don't feel bad for them.

I always feel bad when I shoot wanted ships and slaves spill out of their cargo hold. Especially if I don't have the capacity to get them all to safety...

Just eject the cargo and then use it for target practice. It gives me a warm fluffy feeling....

Brutal!

Don't know if it's just you, but mixing up fantasy and reality is generally not a good sign...

It's not just you, I have to pick up slaves dropped by Pirates, and risk fines to return them to safety.

And if there no black market nearby I make the hard choice to laser the cargo canisters - a quicker honourable death is better than slowly suffocating in the void.

No one plays slave canister billiards? Eject them a couple klicks outside the entry to a Coriolis, back off a couple more, and then boost with flight assist off so you smack them with the bottom of your ship and see how many make it through to the inside?

Good grief Charlie Brown, kick back and have some "I-M-A-G-I-N-A-T-I-O-N" as Spongebob would say. Comments aside, I relish in galactic trafficking of slaves. It is where I made my keep and has afforded me many fine things in this life. The difference between me and other Commanders, is I do not stuff my 100 ton cargohold to the brim...all the time. Slaves loaded into the Type-6 cargohold are comfortable put into a deep sleep via gas released into the hold. There they will remain sedated until my clients orders have been fulfilled.*

har har. "mixing up fantasy and reality", playing computer simulations must be an alarm bell then. To be fair I can see Virtual Reality causing problems for some.

OP, very amusing. I'm not up to speed on all the game mechanics/rules so I've avoided slaves altogether, altruistically and such!

when you find yourself overstocked and have to dump some cargo into the icy, blackness of cold space - that's a moral decision you don't want to face.

Not just you, I wouldn't consider human trafficking regardless of the profits, even in a virtual setting. The very thought gives me the creeps.

I know what you mean, I am always worrying if I managed to squeeze enough in to that cold damp cargo hold. Maybe a few more could be strapped to the exhausts ?!?!

I think I have to advise some people here to NEVER EVER have a look at the Dwarf Fortress Forums.

Might scar you for life :D

( adding magma for !!fun!! now ... )

the fact that i took six slaves in 3 seperate missions burns my conscience, i wanted that lakon 6 so badly though. I feel like my character is tainted, i may have to free some to try and redress the balance later. i know what you mean OP, when i was little i couldn't turn off Lemmings unless they were all (mostly all) safely home.

I did one of those missions where somebody asks you to source some slaves so they can 'give them a better life'. I found the slaves in a system that required a 20min SC run to get to the station, bought them, happy that I'm on the side of GOOD, and trucked them back to the station offering them an improved lot.

Only, when I dropped them off, I got a message saying thank you, we'll find them some rewarding and productive work! I imagined the sender winking at me, while they relayed the info.

I know it's only a game, but I felt conned and terrible like I HAD BEEN WORKING FOR THE MAN ALL ALONG.

Whats wrong with you, nothing wrong with having a slave do everything for you, Just ask your wives, or partners which ever way you want it put. I bet you never think about them making your tea every day or washing your clothes, so I can't see the problem with keeping slaves banged up in my cargo hold, well until I free them at the nearest planet which doesn't have slavery laws.
