I always RP it out of my mind thinking 'the security officer is clearly undereducated. I should not look down upon the less unfortunate than myself.'

Then I have to make another reason for the 'texty' nature of security messages. You'd at least expect an automated voice message.

Hey, one reason for the texty nature might be the language barrier. I mean human space is quite large, id expect a few different languages atleast and maybe there is a small translator attached to your ship so everyone knows what everyone else is saying? The translating of text would be quicker and easier than voice, right?
