I know its just me banging a small tin can but..

Sadly i came to the decision that i'm going to wait for a steam sale for jwe. Id be a fan with a sad face and a full steam library.

It was never about the money, but being so lazy on the deluxe edition is sadly one of the things i look at before paying (especially full price) for a game.

Here are some examples of games i've bought recently without hesitation:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/801710/Surviving_Mars_Deluxe_Upgrade_Pack/
https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/2259/Redout__Deluxe_Edition/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/505540/Rise_of_the_Tomb_Raider_20_Year_Celebration_Pack/ (do not play this game, its bad).
https://store.steampowered.com/app/577840/Conan_Exiles__Barbarian_Edition_Content/

Im sure there are thousands more examples where a developer actually loves and are into the game they're making, over just being a job or even an expression of craft.

I dunno. Just to me, doing the absolute bare minimum to release the game on pc.. no retail even for those that like collecting things.. its too far away from my expectations of paying full price.

Anyways, back to elite dangerous. Shame as you had me here too if not for lazy marketing and cost cutting. I own all frontier games on steam... would have paid double for a physical collectors.. good luck!

Wait, are you not buying because the deluxe edition is only digital? The deluxe edition that only costs an additional $5 for 5 more dinosaurs? The same dinosaurs Frontier has said will be available to buy outside of the deluxe edition?

Or is it because there's no physical copy at all for the PC version of the game? I'm really confused on the reasoning behind this.

I don;t actually see the point? are you expecting them to spend thousands of dollars just so you can have a collectors edition?

I haven't pulled the trigger yet myself either. No planned SLI support (so far) is a big deal to me, and I'm hoping for more of a dino sim than park management game. I might very well still get the game sooner or later, but I'm not really sold yet.

To each their own and all that.

Cheers.

Initially yes, but i came around to accepting that after it was clear that's how it was going to be.

Its actually that the deluxe edition is nothing more than the other edition with all the dinosaurs included. The reality is frontier probably never intended to release a deluxe edition.. planet coaster doesn't have one, and elite has no more than some dlc.

Okay fine, im probably being irrational, but i was a "fan" of operation genesis, absolutely loved that game so wanted some love for jwe too. That and they made the mistake of sticking the label on it. Sadly that label comes with comparisons on it in the marketplace they've chosen, and it is far below competition see above.

I'll definitely get the game don't get me wrong, but either the price has to reflect the offering, or super positive reviews and some insane post lauch dlc needs to sell me on it. Only wrote the post because i was really looking forward to jwe.. a dream game of sorts.

I've given you too much rep lately seems :)

Not going to lie, your loss they are doing an amazing job on the game, they have even just released a new GB update and are constantly fixing it to get it perfect on launch. I feel bad you are getting sucked into the negative hype

What negative hype? I disengaged completely about 2 weeks after the initial invitation event, just came back to say awww one last time. I even had my fingers crossed that frontier would blink at my initial pleas to buff the deluxe edition until i went red in the face and passed out. Have people run out of steam dissecting each pixel of every video thats been released? Happens in elite too, though generally they don't leave specifics hanging for that long there.

To be honest, the biggest concern i have right now is some unfortunate youtubers have publicised the only goldrush in elite that doesn't require board hopping, and while frontier are distracted on jwe i think i need to get my fill because it will be gone soon :/

I don't know how much more you want?

The regular preorder edition is $55, the digital deluxe is $60. You get 5 extra Dinosaurs for $5, that $1 a Dinosaur model. It's a steal for the amount of work that went into them. Also the Digital Deluxe is no more than a regular non special edition game. Some people spend $80-$100 or more on a special edition.

I don't get what your issue is.

Heck I've spent 130$ in special edition's

Oddly, on the PSN tore (for England) there is only the Deluxe Edition; so it's all or nothing for us I guess? [where is it]

I appreciate the "deluxe edition" is a tad lazy on Frontiers part, but I honestly can't see why people wouldn't buy the deluxe edition as standard here. It's essentially the full price, full initial release. Yeah you can buy the extra dinos later (and honestly I don't think people would be fussed with the 5 extras other than completing the collections) but new major releases typically retail at $60/£55 for your base game. So apart from the fact that I think FD should have just had a single release that had those 5 extras just in there I can't see this being a legit reason to not buy

Um... are you saying FD doesn't love the games they make and aren't into it? Because I have zero idea what gives you that impression. FD are one of the more passionate and involved studios around today

100% get you on no physical things to collect as I do enjoy doing this. I'm just thankful that FD haven't released a "digital collectors edition" for an extra $20. Really **** me off when companies do that - what the hell is the point of a collectors edition that you can't physically collect!

I'd also suggest they haven't done the bare minimum at all, in fact I'd suggest they've done the absolute maximum they can within the timeframe they've given themselves to put out something solid that hits their key focus points. Not to mention there's already a 5+GB patch (no doubt addresses issues) and a confirmed FREE Fallen Kingdom DLC before the end of June

I think these points along with most other info we already have kind of negate your reasonings. I'm not one to have a go at you for it, if you wanna hold off for a steam sale then more power to you. I just think your reasoning is a bit off. I hope you do get the game eventually though, cos I'd like to bet you'll love it :)
