I know its to late BUT......

i have only clocked a few hours in game, I'm sure i will get used to it eventually, but once docked it annoys the crud out me that i can not simply use my mouse to navigate all the menus etc.

Scares me touching my flight stick while sitting in the station.......push the wrong button and pew pew pew pew.....

Also it would be nice to be able to access the map without having to access the left panel. Say have it as one of the options with that come up when docked.

PS i have also been playing while jet lagged so I may be missing some simple click in a config screen that will allow me to use the mouse......

In my options menu I have the mouse axes turned of but the relative and mouse look settings on. this allows me to look around with the mouse and use the mouse for in station menus. headlook is on the mouse 3 button. hope this helps :)

Are you not able to use the mouse at all?
Once I click 'station services' I then do everything by mouse.....which is slightly weird in the Rift :D

You can use your mouse.
That's what I do in the station. It's too clunky with the stick even though the controls I have set up there are good.

I think there is a current request for this in the feature requests section. I regularly see this request, and have actually posted it myself a while ago.

it usually gets some supportive replies then drops of the front page. Only for another person who hadn't seen it, to request it again a week later.

Its so fudging annoying to have to come out of station services (using mouse) >> go to navigation panel (voice attack) >> navigate the panel (joystick hat + trigger) >> Galaxy map (mouse) >> then back to station services...

And when you want to go back and forth to work out some trade routes and commodities... AARGH!

I'm sorry, but with all due respect to Frontier and their great work, needing that much traversing of menus and controls to go between two things that are needed together (map & commodities screen), it's really really bad UI design.

Do arrow keys work for you @Corvus?

That would at least get you past the initial menu without touching your stick.

I think by default space is used for an okay button in menus?

I think you have to use the arrow keys (or some other key) in the initial menu (Station services, Docking bay, Launch). Everything else works with the mouse.

I think that's cos you're still "in flight mode" in that menu (Ie, can access side menus).

If you unbind the joystick trigger to enable hardpoint deployment in the options (ON by default) then that takes away the possibility of opening up in stations. Hardpoints can be deployed by pressing the [Enter] key or any other key you want or use Voice Attack.

I find the mouse works fine in station but prefer to use the pov hat and joystick buttons to navigate menus and select with the trigger. Mouse for the Galaxy map though and yes the Galaxy map would be better as a menu option when in station.

You're correct.
I use the stick for those ones.
I just forget about it because as soon as it comes up I've already hit Station Services so I hardly ever see the full menu.
