In no particular order;
1. All electronic interactions with stations should not need you to dock (e.g. selling data, checking bulletin boards, paying fines). This would also make the smaller outposts useful to big ships like Ani's and T9s.
2. High ranking explorers should be able to pick up black-boxes or cargo from wrecks and return them for a small reward.
3. Allow commanders to manually plot routes on gal map.
4. "Discovered by" bouy. Drop a bouy in a particularly interesting system to advertise that you were there, and when.
5. Fuel low warning before it's too late. My 21st century car manages to tell me I'm getting low while I still have a chance of getting to a fuel station and re-fuelling. Perhaps my ship's computer could inform me that I have only one more max-range jump's worth of fuel when I drop out of hyperspace.
6. A fuel-scoop drone. Drop it at the star on arrival, pick it up when you're done.
7. Auto-router for in system travel. I often wonder what is the most efficient route between planets/stars in a system and usually default to just selecting the next nearest. This often leaves me with a stupidly long hike the the final planet. I know there must be a "most efficient" route, but I can't be bothered to work it out manually.
8. Missions that make sense. My in-game RP means that I am particularly looking for ELWs and TCs. It's just the story in my head (and not 'cos they pay well
). I'd like to see missions that support these personal stories. Things like "Sirius Corp are looking to expand into X sector and are paying X% bonus for any terraformable worlds in that area of space."
9. Planetary survey probes. I see this as a precursor to planetary landing. Surely, there is only so much data that can be obtained from 90Ls away. More detailed data could be recovered from a lander, e.g. DNA samples from indigenous life. These probes would be single-use and occupy a ton of hold space.
10. All of the lovely eye-candy ideas that have been expressed elsewhere
