Horizons I landed on a planet recently and couldn't find anything no minerals

I landed on a planet a couple times with SRV one at a Space port on an icy planet and the other on a rocky planet and can't find the minerals needed to up upgrade the SRV or boost the Hyper Drive, also non of the markets sell the minerals or other stuff. I did find settlements on a couple of them but they did absolutely nothing, didn't even have defense turrets or ships patrolling it and no premature, turns out it was a farm of some kind.

Are you using the scanner? I usually start by picking a bearing and driving at full speed until I start to see and here scanner signals to head towards. Generally it only takes a minute or two to start seeing them although occasionally you get a quiet spell. Use wave scanner.net to learn how to identify signal types. Minerals are the ones along the bottom.

I landed on planets that had the blue circle, but didn't see anything on them, I also landed on planets that had the blue circle and with 3 bars sticking out and still didn't see any there, so I am wondering if its just on worlds that have the bar thing, than I say that's a shame because it would allow for looting of other worlds if it was planet wide, maybe some day we can put structures on planets to help with extracting material or a place to store cargo, I wouldn't mind a portable landing pad that we could launch towards a planet and land on, there is some munch potential with this game, I would love to see playable mega ships, I seen a picture in one of the elite dangerous movies of a Mega Ship docked at a space station using landing pad and docking arm or pilon extending from the external part of the station.

The blue rings with the bars just means there's a settlement on that planet and that's it. The blue rings without bars are just landable planets without any settlements.

It takes a little bit to get the scanner to start picking up things. Just keep driving away from your ship and eventually little lines will start showing up and sounds will then start. It just seems like there's nothing at first, just be patient and it'll happen, just keep moving....

Ah, I landed on a surface space port, which is way easier to land on than a regular star port in space, my question is I deployed my SRV and can't seem to find my way out of the station, I keep on going in circles. Bowman Silo its called.

I doubt you can get out from the space port. Request docking permission and drive back to your ship (you will have to follow the compass to find the appropriate port to drive into).

Alternatively, if you don't mind destroying your SRV because you can buy another one at the port (check this ! .... oh you can't check I think without being in the ship), self destruct and you are back in your ship. But I think you will manage fine getting back to your ship.;)

Then fly away from the port and land somewhere, out of its range. Then deploy SRV and start driving away from the ship, and follow the suggestions given previously.

Actually you can just follow the off white road that goes around the city until it dumps you into the sand now follow the sandy trail until you see a huge freaken ramp that leads into a tunnel that says exit to surface. If you couldn't exit from a surface port the SRV gauges wouldn't be there. Of course I found out the SRV guarges one some of the space ports as long as you line up close to your mark, especially if they all say C on them.

It's a good idea to look for exits as you're landing (at least take a note of whether the closest one is to the right or left from your landing pad. So you don't have to circle the whole city.) :)

Ahh, ok .... long time since I've done that from a port. Glad to know you found your way out ;) EDIT ... That was meant for OP :)

If i'm looking for minerals I don't land at a port....just pick a nice empty spot on the planet and put down there. You need to use the scanner to locate the minerals. Quick tutorial video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjrMtlyhbnA

I picked up arsenic for FSD mod at Deciat 6B I think....same system as Felicity Farseer who does the mods.

If looking for a specific mineral use eddb.io and look in the bodies section which allows you to search for specific minerals and will let you list either by distance from where you are searching or by % content on the planet. So look for the highest % planets and pick out the closest one to your location. https://eddb.io/body

Hope this helps
