I Left Humanity on the second day of release when do I return?

So I got my Eagle, fitted it out with a basic discovery scanner and upgraded the drive/fuel scoop and left for exploration it has literally been days in RL since I saw any player let alone a space station I am headed towards something on the map called PIPE? I can't remember the exact name.

It will take me a long time to return to the closest space station but I kind of want to see what money I will get when I sell all my data and I really could do with a planetary scanner but part of me just wants to keep going and see how far you can actually go in this game.

Any thoughts from other explorers?

When you speak to me of humanity I understand. It's so crowded in human space you can hardly breathe, but out there on the run your time is your own, the great gig in the sky is yours to explore. You'll probably make a lot of money from exploring, non-explorers don't understand, it's us and them. Remember you can change your HUD to any colour you like and don't get too close to black holes, they cause brain damage.. but when you look up from your cockpit and see a beautiful eclipse from the dark side of the moon... you'll know it was all worth it.

I don't know what it is, but something gives me the vague feeling you might like Pink Floyd ;-)

Yes, exploration is a great thing. Thus far I haven't been out more than two days in a row, but now that I've fully kitted my Asp (with an exploration Hauler sitting ready in a hangar at George Lucas) I think I'll start somewhat longer tours soon.

To the OP, as for what you can earn by exploring: You can expect anything from a few hundred credits, to some thousand credits on average, up to over 100,000 for a really good system with habitable planets. The latter however won't work without the surface scanner. But even without surface scanner if you return with a couple of hundred/thousand systems worth of data you'll still be able to cash in quite a decent amount! Certainly enough to get you a Cobra, a surface scanner and hopefully an advanced discovery scanner for your next outing.

Keep going :) But just remember...however long you keep flying away, it will take you that same amount to time to fly back.

I did the same as you - as soon as I could I flew off into the beyond. Was an awesome trip.

That said I didn't make a whole lot of money from all the scanning. But then again for the most part I only scanned the star and nearest planet...for the systems I had fully scanned I got a decent amount of money.

There are some great things to see out there - make sure you head towards the nebulas.
