...I like earning money.

Just what the title says. It's how I have fun in Elite. I try to make as much money as I possibly can, although that's been getting less and less interesting with each update. Robigo runs were a blast to do (not the cheaty "sell all your slaves and re-buy them" crap), and required a good set-up and timing. They were high-risk, high-reward missions that actually rewarded you. Then, those missions were removed from the game entirely, and the next thing was Sothis and Ceos runs. They took a bit of work to get the required rank for good missions in both systems, but once you got there they paid decently (if only for ships with large cargo holds). After that, there was the 17 Draconis skimmer bug - which I didn't participate in because A) it was kind of obvious that it was a bug, and B) it wasn't much fun. That was patched as well. Along came the planetary base scanning missions in Quince, which made decent money but were pretty boring to do. Finally, Rhea popped up with good, profitable bulk passenger missions, and those were nerfed into the ground almost immediately. So badly that passenger missions to Colonia are still paying nothing.

It seems to me that the ways to make big money are getting more and more boring, and disappearing much quicker than they used to. What happened to high risk = high reward? I have a Corvette, now give me something challenging to fight with it (Thargoids don't really count here because it would literally take me an entire hour to get to the places they're at in my Corvette). I have a Cutter, now I just need missions that want me to trade 740 tons of something at once for big money.

IMO the Quince/Rhea exploit going away was a great thing. Money should not be so easy to make.
Robigo, however, should be revived. It absolutely was not an exploit as there were very real risks-- one scan = lose everything plus get hostile rep.
Even Sothis wasn't bad because it took a very long time to complete all the missions.
Since you have a Cutter, have you considered PvE piracy? You can make 20-30+ mil an hour quite easily and it's actually fun. See my video for a quick tutorial https://youtu.be/djlEY6WBz1Y

You missed out the legitimate kill-skimmer missions, where you could stack 20 missions, then go and kill 12 skimmers to net 50 million in 15 minutes - or in half the time, if you did it in a Sidewinder and suicided as soon as you had the 12 skimmers, similar to what guys were doing at the Quince base scans.

I had set my goal as being the richest pilot in the game, but now I have given that up. Instead, I fly only a Sidewinder, and by tomorrow, I hope to be one of the first double Elite Sidewinder Pilots. It's great if you like to grind out your progress. I might think about triple Elite in the SW, but I can't see a way that I can get the trade rank. If I could make a million an hour at 20 hours a week, it would take me a year.

Everybody has different goals. You can easily change your goal to something else. Some people are happy not have any goals, but for some of us, who have spent their lives driven by goals, that's a bit weird.

Robigo (with consequences) was the best time I've had in ED. It's still there and profitable but without the risk it's lost its luster.

I think the Ancient Ruins mission is still available and you can repeat it as often as you like. It adds to your Trading rank. I did it a few times, to finally reach Elite Trader.

The bonus has been reduced, but you should be able to make 100 mil per week, maybe more. It took me about 5 days to complete (around 10-15 hours). That was in an AspX; of course, since you're in a sidewinder you'll spend more time jumping. A lot of players don't bother to get the bonus, instead they collect ~60 easy scans and repeat the mission as needed.

I kind of wonder myself who the richest pilot is myself, wish there was data on this and see how much I need to catch up to be part of the 1%.

I`m with you Obnoxious, I do too like making my fortune bigger and bigger and own two Cutters and Corvettes. Those are fantastic ships but you are right that there is no hi risk, reward stuff to do with them.

Well, apparently there is a high risk of getting bored of the game after buying your sixth large ship. :p

Still able to to make 70-80m per run in a 192 cabin passenger conda, made 4bn+ in the last two weeks.

Could you PM me with your method, Trinity?

Also mods, why can't I post new threads? I've just made a video guide on Settlement Assaults, but can't post it?

Making money in Elite fills one with a sense of achievement .

I loved the RObigo runs. Once about halfway home I was interdicted by a single ship, so I submitted to fight them, moments later 3 more appeared, then the feds.. in the end I was blasted to kingdom come by about 50 of them. Fantastic.

I didn't have the game until after Robigo died, and the current 'exploits' are so lazy and easy it's not even funny, but seriously, bring back robigo! Let's all scream with our pants on fire as we flee the entire universe, trying to get our slaves to their rightful owners. High risk, high reward (but not actually that high, it was more the ships people made money in that people complained about).

Maybe you should try to figure out whatever the new gold rush is for yourself instead of blindly following whatever "grind guide" is in vogue this month?Y'know, actually playing the game instead of chasing after the meta?

Robigo was never high risk, merely obscenely high rewards for simple delivery jobs that could be done for no investment in cheap ships.
You can only get scanned if you want to, or are hopelessly incompetent. Glad its gone, it was meh for the game.

is that considered an exploit? Personally, I never got hung up on how much other people were earning.

Working as intended, station is a long distance anyway just found a new route paying way more with a station 1.8m ls from the star (that's a near 40 minute journey with interdictions). Payments entirely appropriate for the time investment.

Agreed. I'll search that one myself then
