I like the Audio in 1.1!

I see a lot of people complaining about the SFX in the latest version, but it honestly sounds good on my system and in general I think it is an improvement over 1.07. There is more detail to the sound, more variety and a greater sense of spece. I would prefer a bit more bass in the mix but apart from that, I don't want to go back to 1.07!

Anyway, just stating my feelings on the matter. Hopefully FD will tweak the sound so that everyone is happy with the experience, whether they use HiFi, desktop speakers, headphones or whatever else.

I admit to being a HiFi nut, so if anyone is remotely interested, here's what I use:
- Denon AH-D7000 headphones, Lawton Audio modified.
- Rega DAC
- Custom built dedicated headphone amp

I think its fine too.

Some of the sounds were made to sound more retro, like the ship computer sounds when acquiring cargo. In a way it fits the Elite universe very well, but some people don't like it, claiming its a drop in quality when in reality its a different style.

Edit: Please note I'm talking about the changes, not the sound problems certain people are experiencing with 1.1.

Using a SBZ sound card with 5.1 steup and a buttkicker i really love the sound effects in the 1.1.03 (using nightmode)

Agreed, the SFX are great....the only little complaint i have is that i'd like to have different volume sliders for internal ship sounds (interface, clank of the landing gear and harpoints etc) and external sounds.

Have you considered that maybe he and the other posters in this thread simply have different opinions to yours, and all are equally valid?

I think Rammstein sound great, but I know plenty of others who think they sound awful.


Edit: The fact that you think your post was not insulting has earned you a place on my ignore list. No need to thank me.

The problem really being that Elite did, and indeed does sound fantastic - but a lot of sounds broke with the latest patches.

Of note - dropping the landing platform into the hangar seems much quieter, as if the ratcheting noises have either been dropped or aren't being played, and I've been getting problems with entering systems - I fuel scoop, discovery scan and start charging FSD is pretty short order - if done too quickly the FSD charge is eerily silent right up until a few seconds before jump...

I'm talking from the standpoint of a ghetto audiophile here - diy CMOY amp and a pair of JVC HA-S500B, running through an Auzentech prelude. Not *poop* hot, but it sounds good to my ears.

I'm not really sure how that qualifies as ignorant.

Having used headphones for the first time today since 1.1, the Clipper final approach in supercruise is absolutely horrible. That stutter can drive one mad.

No worries, they refer to me, having 'insulted' Walt Kerman saying "Just... LOL. You seem you don't know what you are talking about, kid."
I feel very frustrated by people minimizing others' problems. I felt his intervention unrespectful of many people here. There are cmdrs refusing to play because of the broken sound. That's what happened. Sorry for being rude.

I like the sounds as well, and I'm happy there is such a great team of sound artists working on continuously improving the sounds in the game. I only hope that eventually the sounds will be loud enough for my 5.1 surround, but its okay even so, I can manage.

Agree that the audio in 1.1.03 is very good now that I have sorted out the audio problems. I've commented in the thread with those that are having a bad experience. I too found myself with terrible sounds and effects with the update. But it was something wrong with my PC and very strange as 1.07 and previous releases had been absolutely fine. And I cannot explain why this update was affected. But I digress...

Audio is really nice in 1.1.03. Am enjoying the quieter SC and really like the changes to the Dropship (probably one of the few drivers to appreciate them!). Good job ED!
