I liked the Reveal.... but too short... wanted more.

Agreed it looked very interesting. But wow what that a short video, with some footage we had seen previously. I do not however plan to purchase the DLC anytime soon as I just got the base game (prior to the Epic freebie).

I would have liked to have seen, when they were running around outside pew pewing, a Challenger maybe swoop down and unload three medium rail gun loads right into one of their chests.

I want more too. What we got looked good to me! Can't wait to clean out some dustbowl town and steal everything not bolted to the ground! 😈

I must have undiagnosed depression since I watched the reveal and I felt nothing. Sure, walking animation look ok, ships finally got some size and scale, interiors. But these were just an observations, no emotions involved. Probably too much of a cynic myself but I can't remember when I was actually hyped over something. Treating this vid as an info reveal, nothing more, nothing less.

I think some of us have become so bored of waiting for anything interesting from FD that the 'meh' factor has kicked in, although my interest is piqued and it the landscapes look beautifully rendered. Dev diaries would be very useful but FD's MO has always been a lack of information.

One thing though: will ground-based combat be PvP only? I dislike the idea of certain gameplay options being 'locked' out because of your mode of choice. FD should utilise NPCs more to remedy this and a lack of NPC crew (etc.) is one of the main reasons I'm feeling a bit 'meh' about the whole thing.

However, I'm still looking forward to planting those feet on land! :)

There was a huge wave of excitement following DD2 not even 2 months past. If the expectation is fdev to keep that up continuously for 6 months then the reality will always disappoint.

Short memories. Or just not bothered either way. It's not important either way. It's just a trailer. I think the adverse "game's nothing like that" nonsense in the past has tought fdev to just keep it short.

What the deal with this small seismic charges thing? Is it a space version of the need's more cowbell comment or what? What's the history?

Two years ago on a dusty moon behind a kumo burgers outlet amongst a pallet of rusty spoons and an old tattered copy of a Powerplay update magazine a CMDR was overheard discussing RAXXLA while acquiring... a service of some description, some rumors suggest it was CMDR Thrust or indeed Bazmeson but it was too dark to tell and they flew off in a panther clipper before being identified.

anyway, as they were running back to their ship a leaflet fell out their pocket promoting the benefits of deep core mining, and how fissures would change the world as we knew it, there was also an envelope attached to the leaflet which contained a USB drive, an archaic technology from a bygone years.

This USB drive passed hands many times and was mainly full of pictures of sausages in suggestive poses but one CMDR found its true worth and in a file entitled "greggs" was an e-mail exchange from the all but holy founders which lay blasphemy upon the galaxy, it suggested an oracle named Margret from an exotic world called "Accounts" was having an after work get together and there was an encrypted message about people being required to have their secret Santa forms in by 4pm to obtain gifts, Rumor has it these gifts were the maps to RAXXLA but this is the story of small seismic charges and im getting to the point...

anyway.. that email exchange also had a conversation from the main developer working on Seismic charges and it suggested that they couldn't be bothered to render a small version and instead of building it the whole team just went to Margret's party rather than actually doing a proper job of the mining release.

It was then a Captain who was half camel and half fish, named Captain Camelfish who started the foundation for taking in the abandoned ships such as the T7 and set up a go fund me page for ARX, Rumor has it that Captain Camelfish the head of the Small Seismic Charge Foundation had a vision one evening while eating a cheese and onion pastry from greggs where Lord Braben himself came to him dressed as Roy cropper from an ancient soap opera called Coronation street and told him to fight the system and fight for the right for the T7 and other small hardpoint restricted ships to get C1 Seismic charges and C1 plasmas and C1 AX weapons so CMDRs could actually have a choice in what ship they fly.

Anyway, the SSCF code states all those who follow Captain CamelFish will not only receive the map to RAXXLA once the quest for C1 modules is complete but they will also gain a special reward from the legendary RAXXLA itself. (some say its a special FSD drive capable of jumping from one sector to another regardless of distance, others have suggested its a buy one get one free coupon for Kumo burgers.)

The message was spread upon the forums in late 3303, in fact the number one tag on the forums was "Small Seismic Charges" unfortunately the SSCF was raided and dispersed into the waste lands, their message diluted but deeply growing into an unspoken meme when anyone mentioned mining or the T7, A quest in the system "twitter" ensued and #SmallSeismicCharges was trending higher than #EliteDangerous

Now the SSCF is an underground network, and has been secretly training a Pigeon army ready to do its bidding, with a detachment of over 40,000 Pigeons on call ready to defecate from a great height onto its enemies, it lies in wait prodding the bear that is Frontier to finally add Small Seismic Charges (and C1 Plasma & AX) to the game

so, the next time you walk past a group of pigeons looking menacingly at you or flying overhead, ready to carpet bomb the area, perhaps you have made a very powerful enemy or ally?

Support the SSCF - Small Seismic Charges for all!

Tbh, I think it would've been better if in the extended DLC offer, they threw in like 20,000 ARX as well. This way, they're providing more incentive for players to pick up the test-version (allowing for a better variation of feedback) along with potentially swaying those on the fence about buying due to how they feel they might not use Odyssey, to at the very least getting some new skins out of it too...

More bang for your buck so to speak...

Or double arx and double weekly max when doing Odyssey stuff. But I reckon that's going to be a massive sodium generator.

With stuff like this you're guaranteed both anger at it being not enough and anger that it's too much. Literally cannot win. So skin it is.
