I lost a blood scent marker - is there a trick to find it?

Hey there,

I need to switch out enrichments for my lions,... but I can't find the last blood scent marker. Is there any trick to make it prominent, so that I can find it?

Lost it as in can't find it in the habitat? Try using the multi-select tool to highlight items in the entire habitat to see if its underground. Another way could be by selecting the item from the enrichment menu on any animal's info panel, but I'm not sure if the game will auto-select the item when clicked from there. It does highlight foliage though.

I don't think they are highlighted (I'm not in the game right now), it would really help to have that function.
For objects that get lost underground, it always helps me to move the camera below the terrain. I have recovered quite a few sunken heaters and speakers. But the scent markers are especially hard to find, even above the terrain.

Nope, not for me at least. They do for plants, but not for enrichment items. Do they for you? If so, I might have to fill a bug report.

It was a guess in this case. Should be a good suggestion to avoid issues like these.

In Planet Coaster we were able to move the camera underground, for these kind of things.

It actually was above ground, but placed close between a rock and a wall, which is where I would put scent markers in real life, tbh. They should be found by scent, nut by vision. However, it makes them hard to find when there is time for a switch. Which feels like every ten minutes when the game is running. :D

I have to ask the...question. I know it's an enrichment item, but what exactly does it do? Should it be placed by the meat tray?

No, it doesn't have to be near the food tray.

Keepers will always fill the food enrichment items on their visits if they need to be refilled. Importantly, they will fill the enrichment items always before the food tray. If your food tray is being un-used it is because the animals have enough to eat from the enrichment items.

Well at least I know now to put that by the keepers gate :)

It doesn't really matter in-game, but in real life the point of scent-marker enrichment is to lure your animals around their habitat. Putting it down by the keeper gate would be pretty counter-productive to its purpose. The idea is to stimulate the animal's natural behaviours, which includes marking territory, and a lot of territorial animals get an instinctual kick out of new scents in their space and enjoy seeking them out.
