I lost a planet!

Can a planet just disappear, can you be banned from one?

Here is the story: Decided to upgrade my explorer ship from a Cobra MKIII to the Keelback, just to see how it went and cos I could fit a fighter bay :D Not a large outlay, most of the modules from the Cobra went straight into the Keelback no problems. Next I hired my first crew member, cos, well I could :D Then headed off to a planet (Pemoeri 4 in the Pemoeri System - high G - 3.34G) I had been before to get some specific mats. Came out of the glide, bought the ship to a halt fairly high, and decided to give the fighter part of my new acquisition a quick run and learn how to dock back to the mothership. No problems with that part, eventually my new idiotic crewman bought the ship back and nearly kept it steady for me to dock. Of course he had flown a lot closer to the surface and when I took back the con, everything went bad, no thrust, Keelback falling like the brick it imitates. One bounce and the rebuy screen :D After penning a heartfelt letter of condolences to my dearly departed crewman's family (who never made a credit on the maiden flight), I decided to head back out to the same planet to practise high G landings (cos evidently I sucked at them).

This is where it gets strange, the planet no longer appears on the System map, nor in the navigation panel. Did I blow it up? Did the Pilot's Federation deem me incapable of attempting to land on it again? Am I barred from it for littering with the wreckage of my Keelback? Has the planet become a permanent memorial for my erstwhile but sadly departed crewman?

You probably hadn't banked your cartographic data prior to blowing up. Give the system another honk. Happened to me with an engineer system. I knew I had been there before but nothing was showing up.

Yes this ^^ .... you lost the cartographic data for the system. You have to scan it again and bank it somewhere more than 20 lyrs away.

A cigar (and Rep) to both of you. Fired up ED, jumped back into the whatever ship I had on the pad (it was the Vulture but all my ships have ADS fitted) and a quick jump to the system. One big loud HONK, got the message that something honked back to my honk, headed there, did the scan and the veil of secrecy was lifted!

Thank you Commanders, I was beginning to worry I was going to be banned from every planet I crash on :D

Yeah yeah laugh all ya want, but one day I will master landing on a high G planets, if I don't run out of crewmen first :D

It's time again to post this from my friend Psykokow.

Great video. I love this one too:

I believe this one was part of a trolling effort ("Bring your Anaconda to Brill Works; lots of cheap cargo!") which is not something of which I approve. But I'd be lying if I said it didn't make me chuckle.

Lost a planet? Pfft... amateur.

I lost whole 2 star systems. Went for a exploration trip, listed few places I want to visit. Plotting manually from system to system. At one point I enter system name, map goes to the (supposed) location, happily stating "it's here". But there's nothing. Empty space. Can't plot a route, can't preview (since there's nothing to click on). Had to detour that place, continued as usual. Until it happened again, with different system.

Glitch? Bug? Empire's Death Star shooting range?
