Horizons I lost my Anaconda waaaaaa!!! much butthurt.

At least you'll get enough money from the CG reward to buy a real ship instead of that silly Anaconda.

I suggest the Viper Mk III.

Fly and learn, CMDR, fly and learn.

Lost my Federal Corvette yesterday. Greatest loss was however my Elite crew member, Ivanka, trained from Harmless. Will miss her, bless her soul.

You have my sympathy.

I lost my Corvette when my wife distracted me from the game with a crisis a while back. Been extra careful ever since, big buy backs are no fun.

I bought an Anaconda too early, but I sold it when I came to my senses.

i have done this with a asp (back when there was only 8 ships in elite)

a ferdie lance (two weeks after it was released)

and a corvette (again after a week of it being released)

probably will again when panther clipper is released.

It's probably the ONLY time I'd agree with an Eve Online policy.

Don't fly it if you can't afford to replace it.

Sorry to here that... and yeah it dose hurt when you loose a great Ship like the Conda.

So Far i have lost 5 sidewinders, at least 25 Vultures (on purpose), 1 Asp Explorer, 3 Python, 4 Conders and 3 cutters and probably more i can't remember... to the Tune of around 218,000,000cr in rebuys...

But having to start again from Scratch twice when i first started to play Elite i always make sure i have enough to buy a ship mod it and at least 2-3 rebuys before i buy it...

I had just over 200mil invested in my anaconda, and am currently sitting top 10% in the lidpar community goal for trading. In a lapse of judgement I entered a combat zone for kicks and giggles, without adequate funds to pay the insurance...... I lost everything. Back to a sidewinder for me...... From an anaconda.... [knocked out]

Just wanted to share my pain. Anyone else have a familiar story to share to help me feel less of an idiot??

Everybody has a similar story . . . but usually not without the rebuy . . .

The First Rule of Elite, "Don't fly dirty" (AKA without your rebuy). That said, isn't the view nice from the Sidey cockpit?
Kudos on taking it all in stride, Commander.

It's a harsh lesson to learn that whilst a fully equiped conda is a pretty good combat ship a stock one is pretty vulnerable. The feeling of loss I can relate to - I crashed my conda with over an expedition's worth of exploration data on board - that hurt enough, I've always kept my old ships so it wasn't that bad but I can imagine how you feel. Hope you get back there soon - at least having done it once you should have an idea about how to go about it rather than starting from scratch completely!

If you're really crazy now might be a good time to do the outlander challenge!

Hoping I don't loose my exploration data again when the new patch lands!

Good luck and fly safe (With a rebuy:)!)

Cutter got destroyed.

I'm flying high and mighty because I bought like a Cutter just 3 days ago. Launch from inside a station. Rose up and aligned with the mailslot. Full throttled and boosted. Hit it like boss, perfect.

Also hit an Asp entering the station. Aquired bounty for murdering him. Station opens fire and wrecks my big shiny boat.
That made me a little. Sad.

I had more than enough for the rebuy, but damn, 30million down the tube.

Important lessons always have a high cost.
Don´t fly expensive ships without rebuys.

Now be a man and go get your Anaconda back.

Sorry for your loss.

But why did you take a Cr200M 'Conda to a CZ??? That's bare bones outfit, I thought that the cost of a combat fitted Anaconda starts at Cr700M.

What doesn't kill me annoys me until it kills me

What doesn't kill me....may have been softening me up for it's friends [big grin]

I think my Conda is about 500m now and i'll happily go into a CZ....at least in solo mode

I learnt this lesson very early. My first new ship.....an eagle....stuck all the cargo space on it it could take....filled that with the most expensive stuff i could afford.....and got interdicted before i reached my selling destination. I always have about 5 rebuy's on hand for my biggest ship now......just in case of a run of back luck or stupidity

When I started my Alt, Astartia, I cobbled together just enough to get a D-rated Cobra to start trading in earnest. I needed a bit of scratch for commodities, so I sold my shields and filled the hold so I could get in on a CG before it closed.

I had 1042 credits left in the account, no shields, no weapons, and a hold full of expensive commodities. I was banking on the payout from the sale to get me to good on the rebuy and put some shields on.

Let me tell you: those four jumps were the tensest in all my time playing Elite. I got interdicted on jump three. Four pips straight to engines, and I thumbed the boost button hard and fast. The moment everyone's favorite little blue circle went I way I jumped out. He caught up with me 3 light seconds away from the destination, and believe you me, I thought I lost it all.

I managed to escape again and slip into the Coriolis, offload my cargo, and put some 2-D's on my Cobra.

Yes, you can fly without a rebuy.

Once.

You better be lucky, and you better have a plan to raise the funds for a rebuy at the end of your run. Not one. Not the other. Both.

You better believe that I triple checked to see that I was logged in to Solo Mode before I made that run, too.

Still NOT the stupidest thing I've ever done in a space ship, though. ;)

Uhm... Never flew without being able to rebuy three times... Plus always a few ships back in the docks. I even equip shields on trade ships and keep boost ability for my Explorer. I kinda play like my Commander is a real person. A real person would do that. :D
I know, horribly boring and mature and all...

OP: You have my sympathies. I think the whole rebuy-or-lose-everything insurance metric sucks. I used to keep an A rated Cobra in LHS 3447 just in case, but these days I play a sort of modified Iron Man - if I end up back there in a Freewinder I figure my commander is unlucky and wipe the save.

It's refreshing to start from scratch. No responsibilities, no need to worry if you haven't got the rebuy, no enemies who know who you are (but you know who *they* are, oh yes!) and you keep your combat skills without them showing when you get scanned.

....Anyone else have a familiar story to share to help me feel less of an idiot??

I'm afraid not, but I came here from Eve, so I already knew the principle of only flying what you could afford to lose.

Making the effort to travel to a discount system like Diagunadri can save you the rebuy (or more) on a new ship, so if you can afford it undiscounted, you can afford it with rebuy that way.
Keep a money making ship; a smuggling cobra, or a trading asp, or a combat viper, that way if you do lose the ship you couldn't afford to rebuy, you're not busted wback down to a sidewinder.

You have bad days and you lose ships................ I always overcompensate for insurance before I buy a new ship.
