I lost my SRV?

Hello folks!
This is odd - somehow, I seem to have lost my SRV.

I've been returning from the Rim, honking as I go.
I found a rather interesting 2G planet with a bunch of geo sites. 2G's rather heavy, but well within tolerance. I dropped down, took a look at the site. There was easy landing, so I touched down. Landing was a bit heavy; took out one ring of my shields. I went to deploy and whu? No SRV?
Been scratching my head here - I've no idea where the thing went.
Is it possible it could have been destroyed in a hard landing?

I don't think it can be destroyed with a hard landing. SRV bay's don't come fitted with an SRV when they are purchased so maybe you forgot to buy one in outfitting?

Or the vehicle bay just powered off meaning you can't launch it? If you go to the bottom panel and see no SRV at all then it's probably scenario A, if you do see one but can't launch it then it's probably scenario B.

I've been carrying and using it for 30KLy now. Still on the same expedition; haven't been back to the bubble, though I guess this trip is cut short now. The bay is very definitely empty - and powered.
Scratching my head here; where on Earth did that bloody thing go?
Hmm.
Last time I used it was that moon I wrote the little poem on. There's no way to accidentally LEAVE it; it transfers back to your ship.
I'm stumped.

That is definitely a weird one then. I have never heard of that happening before!

If you're sure you didn't get blackout drunk and drive it off a cliff then I would maybe file a support ticket in case it is some kind of bug.

Nope, i assume one cannot do a hard landing with only the base game.

@OP support ticket time?
Probably - I'll look at the log first though, see if I can see anything.
Edit - can't see anything. I'll put a ticket in; this is weird.

Ahhhh.... could be! I'll look right away. I thought it might be a glitch so I restarted while on the planet's surface.
That said, I DID land on that planet; can you without Horizons?
If you are on a planet, and start the base non-Horizon game, you'll automatically get transported aboard your ship and placed at a safe distance from the planet.

Er....
Well...
Um....
🤬

Problem solved.
I went down the log in EDDiscovery; and it said 'SRV Destroyed'.
Facepalm time.
Apparently what happened was once I finished my piece, I went off, did a few things, looked at a few posts, had some dinner...and eventually went to bed.

At some point I'd forgotten that there was still an SRV on the surface.
Oops.

But how did it get destroyed ? If you came back to the game to log in you would see a rotating SRV .... if you left the SRV on the surface and it ran out of fuel ..... does it destroy ?

I kept the game going in the background. I'm guessing it ran out of fuel. When the SRV dies, you get returned to your ship.
Rats.
I am REALLY hoping I didn't lose all my data.
These things happen unfortunately. I always try to carry more than 1 SRV (not always possible though). I took 4 on DW2 so I could launch myself from geysers without worrying about destroying one.
Yeah. I actually took the 2-vehicle bay out, for the small weight saving. Kicking myself now.

When an srv runs out of fuel it turns on life support, but you can still drive around. Once that runs out it get exploded. Unlike most ships though an srv would run out of fuel easily during the night.
