Newcomer / Intro I lost shields totally on a Cobra MK3

Your lasers and missiles are in the same fire group so you do not need to "switch" between them. When you have fire group A enabled, pressing your primary trigger will fire the lasers and pressing your secondary trigger will fire the missiles.

I do however have another issue someone more experienced might be able to help me with namely: How do you switch Weapons from "Burst Lasers" to "Missiles" ?
I have 2 "Seeker Missile Racks" equipped that I have never been able to use on my [PC] HOTAS Saitek X52 Pro. [I believe Missiles are mapped to the "C" key #5 on my flight stick].
PS. I am using the old Saitek Driver and X52 Pro Flight Control System software.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Seeker missiles need to lock on before you fire you know they have locked when the targeting circle on the HUD stops revolving, lock is lost when the target ship gets too far off straight ahead.

In addition to "use the secondary fire button" and "seekers need to lock", I would also suggest (at least that's how I use it):
  • map the KWS to the secondary fire button and the lasers to the primary fire button in the same fire group (so you can start shooting while you're still KWSsing)
  • map all those other scanners to the same fire button in a dedicated fire group (I use secondary, that lets me have the surface scanner as primary in that group). The correct scanner will activate on context (more or less - it just works).
  • get some heat sinks to go with the SCBs 🔥
You may still need to map one of the physical buttons on your stick to be used as a secondary fire button. Oh, and if you get the heat sinks, you can also map them directly to a dedicated physical button instead of (or in addition to) a fire button (same for chaff).

Get rid of the shield cell banks and use the money to get the best thrusters and power distributor you can, They're more important than anything else.

Aso, i bet those beam lasers are a waste of space. Even a 3A power distributor can only provide 41% of the power they need.

This is how I load out a Cobra for combat.

This if you're strapped for cash:

I just looked at your s/shots and it looks fine to me. You say that you are using a X52 Pro. So am I and it is getting on a bit. Some of the buttons are sticky. Is that #2 trigger working in Windose game controller? I use that button for boost and the clutch button on the throttle for trigger 2.
FYI (in case you haven't noticed) the trigger on the stick has two switches. (I assume that's for obtaining lock then fire or something like that.)

Dead easy. On the RH Panel, Fire Groups. You put your lasers on one trigger and your missiles on another trigger. Or if you want put your lasers in one group, your missiles on another group. Then switch between fire groups.
In another thread. Someone wanted to know how to switch off the turrets. The answer is the same. Put the turrets and lasers in one group the create another group without the turrets. When you switch to the group without turrets. They will stop firing. Using Fire groups is a handy thing. :)

You have to set up fire groups from the tab next to modules tab.
Set up is kind of intricate to describe how it's done. It's best you find an instruction video or two.
There are also tons of Elite Dangerous instruction videos out there as well.
This should help you understand Fire Groups.
