I love E:D But really?

Are they looking at Star Citizen's 1 Billion dollars funding and rubbing their hands?

They are now selling the Cobra MK 5 (Standard) for 10738 ARX.... even though the Corsair is still on the real cash only roster?
Is this how it's going to be from now on?

All the Mary Sue ships that punch way, way above their weight (compare MK5 to Mk4 and every other small ship) and the Corsair with basically better core and optional modules than any other medium ship... are going to be Cash Only for months on end?

If it wasn't such an incredible upgrade from other small ships I wouldn't mind. But the fact that it is basically a medium ship in a small ship body that can out "Role" any small ship in the game is really galling to me. I have no idea how anyone else feels about this. This is a purely personal rant...

ok, sorry. I'll shut up now and go back to my max engineered, 50LY Hauler.

Seriously another P2W thread?

Another?

Hey, I'm just seeing it as it is, as someone who followed since the Kickstarter and came back a few months ago....
I don't read the forums.... Are you saying I should have researched the forums and melded my opinion with the group before stating my opinion?

Could well be a reason why you are tired of seeing "P2W" threads...

Tired because there is no P2W, nobody has yet come up with what we are winning in numerous threads.
Yes its getting tedious.

Ah, sorry, seems you read my post while I edited it to "cash only" instead of P2W..... My bad for pressing enter too soon... Sorry about that. I realised almost as soon as I saved the first "draught"

Yes, it is P2W. Yes, the ships are better (I mean, they are supposed to be newer, right?). Yes, they monetize on it. But so what? As long as it is not throwing the game off (which it doesn't), it is a nice incentive for the devs to create new ships. I, for one, welcome our new ARX overlords.

I don't think the early access for new ships is much of a problem, though to be fair there are a few things they could do with doing to keep up player happiness:
  1. Be explicit about the early access period and stick to it – players should know when the new ship is going to be available for credits.
  2. Refresh some existing ships alongside releasing the new wave of ships. The refreshes can come with new ship kits but shouldn't come with pre-order barriers.
  3. Be careful about which ships, with what loadouts, can be bought (and have early access periods). An AX jumpstart prebuild is good; a Type-9 with a Guardian Frame Shift Booster is not. Trading is specifically about progression and that's skipping right to the end. It might not have bothered people too much, but a Panther-Clipper will.

It'll be up for credits pretty soon, and it can only improve the early game for ED's new players. Anything that makes the game feel good for new players is welcome.

Having said that, its hardpoints will remind you quickly that you'll be better off in a medium, unless it's a Keelback. I think that ship is a bigger victim of the Cobra V than the smalls.

I'm unconvinced that the new ships are significantly better. I've bought a T8 because it's a great hauler for a medium pad, but after looking at the others I'm keeping my Asp, Phantom, FdL and Pythons.

I'm unconvinced that the new ships are significantly better.

Hmmm ok. Starts off promising.

lol.

The fact that they are creating cash ships that are statswide way and ahead of prior ships to the point of basically including their existence is kind of sad.

At least do something to give the earlier ships at least presence of relevance.

The T7 design had a mistake where it was 50cm too tall for the medium pads in the Beta and clipped through the hangar roof. so they just deleted its ability to land on M pads instead of spending a few man hours to reduce its height.

But now suddenly they have a T8 that CAN land on M pads and strangely has better everything than a Large ship.

If ships don’t have a niche, why bother existing?

Personally, I don't like using Arx to buy ships so I wait until I can buy them with in-game credits but then I'm not the kind of person that has to go out and buy the latest technology or clothes or whatever, I'd rather save my money for other things. If others want to blow their real life money on Arx and ships then good on them. I certainly don't feel like I need to do the same.

Except the T-7 was already made redundant by the Python. The reason you got a T-7 was because it was significantly cheaper, which is still the case.
