I love Elite Dangerous.. but..

Firstly, let me state that I love Elite, I've ploughed £££ into playing it.. bought a HOTAS, broke that one.. bought a warthog.. and rudders.. bought a 980Ti.. now saving for new cpu/mboard combo and a Rift.. and all because I love Elite Dangerous. I really appreciate the work the Dev's put into it, I have no idea how you even code this stuff.. (I'm a network engineer, I only code routers and switches).. so now that I think I have made my point that I love Elite.. here's the thing...

Why (oh why oh why oh why).. does it feel on release day that I am still playing Beta 2.3?

Let me illustrate this point:

Broken Galaxy Map in 4k
Broken System map in 4K
Purchased ship name plates / ID plates and even a suit pack at 19:00 BST, still not delivered in game at 22:00
Mercifully the stuttering that plagued my gameplay in 2.2 around stations is all but gone.. mostly, it's much much better now
Planetary landings however.. umm anything other than a gentle bank turn results in the landscape jerking past the cockpit window at around 3fps.. which is weird because the game isn't actually lagging, the ship moves and rolls fine, it's the planet thats taking time to 'catch up'.. but I digress.. the point is.. surely you must have a 4k monitor test rig? right? You did test the game before releasing it? Or read the myriad of bug reports and act upon them?

I know that an undertaking of this size is a huge thing, and there will always be bugs, but its how you handle those bug reports that really counts. I can't speak for anyone else, but personally, I would rather wait a month extra for a release that works rather than get something rushed out the door and maybe fixed later. In a game like Elite, ask any player, immersion is important.. stars that look blurry when you drop out of h-space, having to switch my screen from 4k to 1080 just to plot a route and then switch back to 4k to fly it (of course the system map is still broken so that kinda kills exploration, and I'm not overly bothered about the star thing tbh). My point is that these are things that should really be working and ready on release day. I even reported the fact during beta that the installer wasn't completing the install, as did many others, and yet on release day the installer still wasn't fixed and required manual intervention to complete.

So, from the heart.. thank you FD for all the work you plough into making Elite the experience it is, but please please.. now fix the broken things, listen to your players, and when you have done that, go and have a nice cup of tea before thinking about what's next...

well yes some new store stuff may bring them some money now, but if they can't keep up the issues the game has, the next store update may not have much customers anymore.
