Powerplay I LOVE POWERPLAY!!!

Man, you caught me red handed haha!!! :D

yeah I love the Alliance, Fed second and Imp last (slavery doesn't sit well with me)...kind of a bit sad that the others have 2 or more powers and Alliance has just one, with Rubbish perks and weapon...

the Alliance is somewhat the closest thing to the rebels in Star Wars, hence why I like it :)

Really wish they had their own navy though.... perhaps the Cobra MK4 could be added to that? (bout time players who missed out have a chance eh?) :D

I hate the Mahon Alliance! Primarily because they are in first place all the time and nobody but the Fed's and Archon Delane seem to have the balls to have a go at you guys so me and my group take it upon ourselves to give them $#@^. Damn good paying player contracts against the Alliance too. I'm something of a moral man and often set out on other contracts but end up back giving the Alliance the finger because it seems the Leprechauns want to control EVERYTHING! Which is my #2 issue with the Alliance.

I'll give it too you guys though, your #1 and have been for quite a while. That accounts for something and boy you've got the Imperials fooled. They are so worried about the Fed's that they crawled in bed with Mahon. I liked some of the Imperials until that happened. For the most part, they are good role-players. The serial killers mostly seem to be with Aisling Duval. The ALD folks actually interdicted me and asked for me to state my business. I explained that I was on a humanitarian mission to said system and my intentions were nobel. These 2 players insisted on escorting me there, did, and then insisted that I leave due to escalated hostilities. I complied and still think that was REALLY COOL of them to play it all out like that. The AD folks will just shoot at you and put a video up (if you escape or get blown up) on You Tube to laugh it up.

P.S. Folks, please stop messaging me. If you don't know how to officially get in touch with mercenaries then you don't have a need to know. As far as my group goes, we are NOT assassins or bounty hunters. Thank you and as far as alignment goes, we are Lawful Neutral if you've ever played D&D.

Props to the OP for finding something different and positive to say, lol

I loved the PvP aspects of Powerplay and I'm delighted to see no fewer than three old frenemies of yesteryear still active in this thread.

Nowadays I stay pledged (to Hudson) for RP purposes but because almost all of my PvP is currently carried out in a Courier, there's not much point in me interdicting merit-hauling enemy agents unless I can be bothered carrying a Yuri Grom missile, or I get lucky and they fight and fail the interdiction. Hence I tend to stick to consensual duelling nowadays.

Ah, those good old days of 2015 in my FdL or Clipper, though ...

Sounds like you got caught up with some AD malcontents. There's been ongoing internal faction strife and 5C prep of Yaque going on for some time now where certain Aisling factions have been paraonid. Which is too bad since AD should be the best face of the empire with their policies and the princess was the legitimate heir. Recently while the other empire powers have been contrained and told to consolidate, ALD has acquired two more control systems with relatively less deficit. That's why ZYADA and other hamstrung polices to consolidate instead of expand have caused Aisling to slip back behind ALD despite Aisling having one of the biggest pledged player base.

What's so funny? There are some great contracts against the Alliance. I'm not the only person that's sick of seeing Mahon's face in the far left. ;-)

It wasn't so much me. I was hired to escort a space trucker and I guess 2 bored AD players had nothing better to do. We both got shot up but escaped and made the cargo run. Made a little under 1.5 million on that one so I considered it worth it. Especially since we didn't see the rebuy screen. :)

The thing I really care about is whether or not the Imperials are working to remove the Mahon STENCH from the galaxy. As soon as I can get conformation, we are in! Well, as long as the pay is good. ;-)

Don't hold your breath. Whatever may drive you, a majority of people seem to be more motivated by the community vs. community aspect of Powerplay (vs. the barely-there lore background aspect, or the competing-abstract-entities-on-a-map aspect). Redirecting major effort against a community that's done us no insult nor injury in 2 years and away from communities that have done us a great deal (and us them, to be sure) would take
a) blind-faith levels of inspirational leadership (poor/transparent rhetoric would seem to indicate that isn't you, and it certainly isn't me), or
b) another bulls@#t manufactured casus belli. The last of these served only to harden the resolve and increase the number of the manufacturers' enemies. For a new one to be effective...well I don't see it. I've been surprised before at what people will believe though.

I'm not a huge fan of the fact that e.g. a new Fed will find themselves disliked/attacked because of something predecessors, people he or she never met, did or said. I'm also a historian though, and recognize that process is a prime motivator in human history. People don't forget slights. A significant subset don't forgive, either.

So good luck chief. In your efforts, remember that Imperials aren't fighting the Feds, or they us, week in a week out because of a silly scoreboard. Rivalry is something quite apart from 'league standings' in sports as well as in games. Understand the mindset of people you're trying to convince. Maybe then you'll think of something more convincing. I hate to see passion wasted on failed rhetoric.

I like you.

I'm definitely not holding my breath, but it would be nice to see some damned AMBITION rather than all this PC (Politically Correct)-Hippie crap going on. A game like this ceases to be a good game when things are no longer dynamic and I truly think that all those community folks that think this or that group, power, etc., never did anything to them are going to find out the real truth soon enough. ;-)

One of the best reasons to hire mercenaries is a little thing called Plausible Deniability.

Now me and my group don't grief players and heavily weigh all the jobs we take so I'm not too worried about myself and my folks. That doesn't mean that other mercenaries do.

Ah ok.
Convincing someone to hire you/others. That's rather a different thing than convincing people to fight someone new.
Focus on the non-combat Powers maybe? They're the only ones I've seen do such a thing. Hardly necessary for the 5(?) combat focused Powers to gather a few more fighters, let alone pay for any ;-)

Well...ok. Do be sure your/whoever's proof is solid, would you? We're not primarily made up of teenagers. Unsubstantiated accusations have been daily thing in Powerplay and (IME) no one takes it well even if it fits their aim. The extent is such that several mod teams created rules to just ban people who accuse without providing proof.

1st day (and every day after) rhetoric class: Know Thine Audience.

We don't have to convince people to hire us. It's quite the opposite lately in that I'm telling folks," No, we are not into that." And I'm sure you understand that it would be bad business to lay out the affairs of me, my group, and any other mercenaries. Like I said, I think it'll all come to light soon enough. It was no jest when I said the Alliance wants to control everything! Do you think their desire to "Paint the galaxy green" doesn't pertain to the Empire?

I told the Feds a long time ago that I get sick and tired of being right and I'm telling you the same thing. With that, believe whatever you want that helps you sleep at night and have a pleasant Elite Dangerous experience.

Please make a note that I have NEVER been banned from ANYTHING related to this game with give or take 2 years of gameplay! I'm friendly with a lot of people, don't give player's grief, and call it like I see it.

Can't fathom why they didn't listen.

Dude I don't care what you reveal or don't. Just please do us all a favour and make it convincing, would you?
The truth doesn't matter if you fail to convince anyone of it.

By the amount of Rep I'm getting, perhaps your the one in denial.

I'm not trying to convince you. I'm working to enlighten you.

In any case, just play the game. We'll be around when you need us. ;-)

All of the systems ALD has taken over the last two months would have been significant loss-makers for Aisling, who already has the second largest deficit in the game. Some of the systems ALD took a bit further back were systems she was regaining control over after a long period of sabotage. Her allies made a decision not to attempt to take these systems when they were on the table. Aisling, Torval, and Patreus had a clear opportunity to gain, but it would have been at the expense of a power that has always protected and sacrificed for each of them.

It would be very difficult to make the case that ZYADA and consolidation have not been tremendously beneficial for Aisling.
