I love realism/immersion. Frontier please at least consider this.

I love Elite for the immersion it brings. But sometimes I wanna strangle the Ai when it automatically takes off when on planets in the worst situation ever. Don’t get me wrong I understand why we have it and all, but can we at least be in control of it? Let me explain.

I just think that if I have a good spot to put down my ship then why not stay there. Sure if I have to travel far then bye bye no problem. But when looking for something close by I find it really frustrating that it takes off just because I reached the magic 2.1km limit. “For crying out loud just stay, I’m only behind that hill and I’m coming back anyway” only to see it land somewhere in the opposite direction I had no intentions of going. Landing a place I can’t reach. Or inside a base getting hammered, or even worse crash to the ground. Especially on high gravity worlds. SEE THAT IS WHY I LANDED YOU THERE DUMB AI! NOW STAY!!Pirates are never a problem. Only if you have cargo. And if they do attack so be it. Send off ship then manually. You get the warning anyway yes? Attacks only happens to me 1 out of a 100 or more.. but most of the times I really just want the ship to wait for me where I put it. If I’m followed by someone then I need to get away in hurry. What better than to go where I parked. Or I’m just gonna go and fetch that item over there. Back in two mins. Ship don’t care. “Cya sucker I’m out” To me it makes no sense. No Ai supercruise mode. But ship takes off without you onboard and order, and goes to orbit with no problem
Well it is a breaker for me. And kinda removes the realism for me... Auto fly to orbit is a cool thing yes. But at least give me control of my own ship and let me decide, when I think it is a good time. Sometimes it is fine. But I would really love to be in control of my own darn ship thank you. Am I not the commander of the ship or what?

The 2.1 km limit is to short. Could you at least increase it to 4 or 6 km please. Or the very least give us the option to adjust it. Cause I understand if there are lazy people who like the way it is and don’t wanna do anything manually. I’m just not sorry.

Sure some people may say “you should do this and that” I DON’T CARE how you people play. I play the game my way. And when I land at a good spot then it is for tactical and personal reasons. And the game is about choices of freedom is it not? ERGO ships should not just leave me without me telling it to.

And some may say “it is a memory thing” I don’t buy that one bit.
if I can see police ships landed on planets from 7 kn away or fly ship launched fighters 30 km away from the mother ship then why on earth does my ship have to leave when I get 2.1 km away from it?...Why?

it kills all immersion for me. I can’t even climb a mountain and take a beautiful picture of my ship further down because of the short silly range limit and bye bye there she goes...
There are people who would hate for this to change yes, but there will always be naysayers.
But for people such as me I would love just for an options to increase the range. Put it in game play option or something. Just like you can adjust the view of the cockpit...

Okay I’m done. Thanks for reading at least.

Nothing do with memory, it's safety thing for your ship. if your ship is attacked on the ground it is defenceless, once you get to far away to get back quickly it takes off and it is safe from attack, much easier to do it for everyone than have another interface to controls your grounded ship I guess. Personally I agree with you, when I am out in the black exploring there's really no reason for my ship to leave, there's nothing hostile in 20kly and often much more, however salty tears wins most often. We already get people complaining about how hard it is to dock because they don't bother fitting a docking computer, give people this option and there would be complaints everywhere about ships being destroyed while they were joyriding in the SRV.

Personally I would say do it anyway, your choice, your consequences, so yes I am with you here.

2km is well within the span of a single instance, so this should be easy to do without having to change much of anything at all.

Once beyond instancing radius, the ship has to leave though, unless some new mechanism is in place to make them persistent.

True. I just really wish I could go let’s say 4km away before the ship would leave. When I’m on high gravity worlds with rough terrain I always find a good spot to land. And then I think it would be wonderful to be able to go a bit further without worrying about the ship leaving. The ship is safe where I put it... or sometimes when I do base assaults, then I land 2 km away from the base where the boarder is. Only to go in to the base and see my ship leave. Then I gotta escape. Then I must travel further than I landed from the base to be allowed to call my ship. Only to see it land EVEN further away or inside the base so I have to to travel back again. A 2.5 km travel from my ship resulted in a 5 km travel before I could get to it. While getting hammered by patrol ships. Had the ship just been where I left it, then I would have made it.
I totally understand there is limit. But you can fly 30 km away from your ship in a SLF, then surely you should be able to travel a bit further away from your ship when in SRV...
anyway personally I think it breaks the immersion of the game for me. I don’t feel I am in control of my own ship. Also I will never be able to take beautiful screen shots of my ship from a mountain. Well I can but then it must be within the 2 km zone. Then let’s call it a hill then...

Ofc if it is impossible to increase the range, well then that is just to bad I guess... But one can always dream ofc :)
